In have seen both international and regular books. In my honest opinion, the only difference I have seen is that the international version is less colorful and cheaper. That's basically it.

Lot of times when you find them the description will say different cover, same contents.

With what I encountered, its hard to sell unless you sell it online. They are usually soft covered. Several times cheaper. But only once have I encountered a book with different contents. It was a math book and a few of the problems were different but it might as well been a older edition.

The international edition of a textbook usually has the exact same content as the U.S. edition. It's cheaper to buy, but it's usually softcover instead of hardcover, and most bookstores won't buy back an international edition. I'd say go ahead and buy the international edition if it costs less than the buyback price you'd get for a hardcover U.S. edition (usually 50% of new price for new textbooks and way less for used textbooks X_X) Buyback prices for textbooks usually stink, but at least you're getting some money back...sigh.

Oh, and fyi, if you're buying textbooks on Half.com or anywhere online, make sure to ask if they're selling the international edition or the U.S. hardcover edition! I've looked for books before using the ISBN # on Half.com and even though the description says it's a U.S. edition, they're actually selling the international edition. And definitely don't buy if they won't tell you or they're not upfront about it.
