so for ucsd, it costs 24,016

my estimated aid is 15,366 including cal grant b and the ucsd grant.

the estimated grant ucsd will be giving me is 8,334.

now that leaves about 8600.

on the estimated list it doesn't include the cal grant A.

it just so happens i got a cal grant A for about 7100. this pretty much clears up college tuitions. however if i report the 7100 before ucsd awards me my money, is it possible that they would give me less in the ucsd grant because i have more money coming in from another source?

so what im saying is, should i wait until ucsd awards me their grant and then say oh hey cal grants giving me 7100 so i get both grants in full amount or just do it now?

hmm..

Cal Grant A + UCSD Grant = 7100 + 8334 = $15434

UCSD Tuition - Grants = $8582

wow. that's pretty nice. you can seriously pay that yourself through summer jobs & working part time during the school year.

well anyway, uhhh i asked my brother who's a fourth year student at UCSD, and he said he "doubts" UCSD will give you less.

i hope that was somehow helpful... sweatingbullets.gif

oh really? what's the point of taking cal grant b if cal grant A is a lot more money then?

oh i looked on the letter they sent me and it said. "the award that shows an award amount was selected for you because it should give you the most benefit over the life of the grant." cal grant b had an award amount of $1551, cal grant A had see code #1, which says im eligible for a cal grant A.

so according to that cal grant b should give me the most benefit over the life of the grant. how does getting 1551 instead of 7100 benefit me?

^ yea i'm in the same position as you. supposedly cal grant b will give you more over the four years according to the posters here link
so like do i have to notify them if i'm sticking with cal grant b or just leave it alone??
keep on wishing and dreaming.
