Kay, so I moved a few days ago into my new house and set up my computer which has been working fine, until I inserted a DVD I wanted to watch that I've played on this computer before, and when I open my DVD-RW Drive (D:) nothing is there.. and when I try to play it on GOM Player or any other player (media player classic, etc) it doesn't work because there's like no codec or something, but really because it's not registering there beng any disc inserted at all.. O_O... ? also for any other DVD-R's I insert they don't work and when I try to burn DVD-R's it screws up 1/4 thru. pls help. <3

My Dvd-drive Can't Read Or Play Any Disc. It's shown as no data even being in it!

QUOTE (jacq)
or maybe its a driver problem? go to my computer> Properties> Hardware> device manager and then check if there's a yellow and black ! on any of them. If there is, look for the driver for your dvd rom and reinstall by right clicking the yellow and black ! then reinstall driver. Everything else is pretty self explanatory from there.
=D I hope you'll get it to work >.<

Was it working before you moved from your house?
Maybe your CD/DVD drive was damaged or is loose from its connectors.

^Yeha, it was working perfectly fine before we moved.. so should I have to open up my motherboard and see if some cables were jossled out?

if the cables are loose there is a better chance that drive wouldn't show up in My Computer at all, probably the best thing to do is delete the drive from system manager and restart the computer so that it reinstall the drive again. it should be reinstalled automatic since drivers for dvd drivers are built into Windows since Windows 2000.
