and there is drifting
from my experience (i'll summarize)
1 - while i'm making a turn hit the brakes (e break for short period of time)
2- when i'm sliding, let go of the brakes
3- then start slightly hit the gas pedal on and of simultaneously, which would start moving the car sideways - drifting
(remember to counter steer when drifting)
i guess this applies for automatic
i dont know how to do it with manual. i'll die. lol

You can drift with front wheels - but its harder. If you're so desperate to drift - do it in the rain. Im sure you'll make it without meaning to.
It just a phase. You'll get over it.

drifting.. is not easy..
takes alot of practice.
havto hav some good co ordination and to kno watchu doin
the car u have can make drifting a whole lot easier or harder
eg. rear wheel drive.. easier.. but just because its a rear wheel drive doesnt make it ENTIERLY easier.. its more complicated than that
front wheel drive.. GG.. well, got a friend of a friend who drifts with a normal lancer with only his handbrake bahahaha..
4wd.. GG.. good luck..
foot work is very important for there are plenty techniques to drifting..
throttle control, braking, using the clutch properly without frying it blah blah blah
using hands.. no power steering = GG at the end of the day. gloved recommended so u dont miss the steering wheel, gear knob etc
using handbrake is important.. could save ur life =] not only used to get u side ways buh also used to prevent u from sliding out while drifting.. something pro's use in the middle of the drift to correct the drift to prevent over steer resulting in GG
the type of car.. lots of cars out there that are capable of drifting but also alot that arnet
modifications.. makes things easier when u learn how to drift.. not all about power.. more about handling and work on the chassis, transmission etc
watch the drift bible as suggested by ChaosMag3 "Best Motoring Drift Bible" there are some MUST HAVE parts in your car to make learning easier and less frustrating. great tutorial on how to drift.. i loved it, one of the best tutorials out there made by the drift king himself
wheel size does matter, tyers, type of wheel..
IF u ever practice drifting or do it.. dont do it on the streets.. got enuff of mah homies dead already.. best to do it in an empty parking lot and make sure to bring some cones =] goin to drift days is also possible once ur experienced
car? find a rwd that u can use and abuse first BAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH.. then get a good one..
recommeded to buy a clean non modified car.. usualy cars like s13, 14, 15, ae86's, r32 or 33's etc that modified or even the slightly modified cars that are usual been abused with.. drifting...
recommended cars that are cheap and easy to find? 180sx (or as other country's call it, 240sx), bahh i cant remember the other names fo the silvias.. so ill just use s13 Q's, s14 A's or Q's , AE86's, r32, 33 gts-t skylines. i kno there are mo buhh i dont kno them.. good starters for drifting..
i hav a magazine with some drifting instructions in it.. ill chuck a page on so u guys can see some of the "entries" u can use when aproching a corner..

this is from SPEED magazine, issue 13 which is a special drifting guide issue with everything u need to kno.. Australian mag btw..
please, take advice from experienced drifters..
and im not an experienced drifter..
BAHAHAHAHA
just telling u the basics to wat i kno bout drifting buhh dont rely on it
one mo thing.. drifting= empty wallet.. =/
if anything up there is wrong then please.. DONT FLAME ME.. =\
hope this helps
PhoShizzle
on the hunt for gatsby =]
buhh dayumm.. im broke..
ye i cwalk... check me out =]

Thing is, it takes control to drift, and most of the pros began as some kind of grip racer or had the cash to start up and practice every week. There's also way too much to alter to get a car drift-ready. You'd have to change suspension, tires, wheels, brakes, and possibly upgrade the engine to get more power. Drift upgrades can easily push $3000-$10000 dollars. Also the base car does matter. Sometimes it would be smart to start in a smaller car like an AE86 or 240SX, or even the Mazda Miata (yay to the guy who drifted the red one!) but then bigger cars-namely sedans can help control due to higher body weight and the length of the car (Ken Nomura anyone??)
I'd personally drift, but just to do it on a casual basis. If you don't have the time or resources to pull drifting off, and you wanted to do it over a movie, don't even think about drifting. However, looking at the OP's profile, accoring to it she's from Cali. If you go to learn to drift, that would be pretty awesome since there is some female drift support in California! I hear they do tutorials a few times out of the year.
NOTE: To the guy who mentioned all those cars like the AE86, 240SX, S-Series Silvia... No falme intended but,It's mindsets like that that drive up the price of decent starter drift cars-the TOFU TAX/INITIAL D TAX. I can't get a decent AE86 Corolla GT-S up here in Canada for under 3 grand. I'm settling on carb-tuning an SR5 when the time comes around. We DO have FR R32 Skylines up here, but most are basic daily drivers that cost a small fortune to run.
Life without love is like eating fries without the ketchup.
