Yeah, basically I want to find a song I heard at the grocery store today, but it is instrumental. I've heard it before from maybe a commercial or a movie. It's pretty old. It might be from the 1970s-1980'. Its a pretty calming song with a violin. I think it kind of goes with funk, retro, or just very oldie. It also kind of sound like the song "Dancing queen" by ABBA.

Does anyone know where I can possibly find songs that I have no idea what the title is and it is an instrumental?

I use this program called "Tunatic." It's sorta like that verizon thing where you put your phone to whatever music is playing and it identifies it for you. Tunatic is a free program, so it doesn't have a lot of songs, but you can try your luck there.

Other than that I'm utterly clueless as to how to identify a song that I happen to like.

^ the only thing you can do is describe it as best you can, and hope someone recognizes it. >< If you hear it on the radio, you can always call the station. And if you can remember the melody or have a good ear and can copy the sound the best you can like bananfish did--that would help too. And you can post in here, too--more people will see it--sometimes the individual threads get overlooked just because the forum is so busy.

Do you have an iPhone/know anyone that does? There's a really good iPhone/iPod touch application called Midomi (http://phobos.apple....84972998&mt=8). You just start singing or humming the song and it'll find it! It's really accurate, too! It recognised Wonder Girls Tell Me, haha. T__T

i usually like .. find the song eventually
i like visited anoter state adn the place i was staying, this guy was playing the song and i REALLY liked it and found it from there =D

but if you can take a second and remember a line or two of lyrics just go home, type it into google and put 'lyrics' behind whatever you typed. works 99.9% of the time for me

ha-stuff like that bugs me too. >_< I listened to what you were playing a few times--and even though the tempo was different--I still recognized it. =p I got lucky. lol You did a good job. =D It came out when I was little, but it was so popular, you still hear it.
