a few days ago some of my frds told me how korean people tend to dislike chinese people and they gave me a example about how that one chinese guy in super juniors have a to wear a mask when they perform because he was chinese . so i was wondering is this really true and do koreans really tend to dislike chinese people?

No, of course it's not true.

Once again generalisation fails.

Its better than having to get surgery. Almost every korean kid in seoul gets surgery before they go to highschool/college/university.
Or can be accepted.

He didn't have to wear a mask because Koreans hate him, in fact, Korean fans LOVE Hangeng. He had to wear a mask because he has problems with his Visa and wasn't allowed to perform on the show so he wore a mask. That's crazy you better tell you're friend to not say that stuff about Hangeng or Super Junior fans might attack them.

lol I love how this quickly started to turn solely Super-Junior topic... but anyway. My friends told me the very same thing not too long ago, but that was only because they've never had a good experience with any Korean person.... BUT ultimately, I really don't think you can say that Koreans dislike Chinese, or any race completely disliking another race... ***I think it's very subjective, with my friends for example being Chinese never having good experience with Korean, but I have never had a bad experience with any Korean and I am Chinese.....

QUOTE
Hi L&R folks,

Due to the inability of certain members to properly keep a civilised discussion with regard to ethnicity-related topics, koumi and I have decided to ban all ethnicity-related topics for now.

Ethnicity-related topics have been a regular feature of L&R, common ones include "Korean fob boys", "How to date a (insert-ethnicity) guy/girl", "Chinese v Koreans", "Would a Korean like a Vietnamese?", and so on and so forth. The bulk of them are repetitious, end up in fights and get closed. We understand that there will always be members who are genuinely interested in cross-cultural issues and want a good discussion on them or simply to understand more about a new culture, but it's been proven over time that the bulk of ethnicity-related topics are chock full of ignorant, racist and derogatory remarks that should have no place in soompi.

koumi and I do not propose a permanent ban on ethnicity-related topics, only until such time as we feel it is suitable for members to start posting such topics again. For now, we seek your understanding that such topics should not appear in the L&R for the time being. Obviously, if the situation does not improve, then the ban will become permanent.

Any ethnicity-related topics will be closed without question with retrospective effect. If you have any questions, please PM either koumi or Aziraphale.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

koumi & Aziraphale

It just steams from historical events, especially the Korean war where the Chinese killed a lot of Koreans, even in historical times China has always tried to manipulate, attack and just frustrate koreans.... Its more with the older generation, the newer generations aren't as bad, but there are still a lot of people who have a deep resentment towards the Chinese. Its the same feelings as how China and Korea resent the japanese due to the events of 1st/2nd sino japanese wars, Nanking, and WW2 massacres and atrocities, ect...To make matters worse, China keeps on picking on the Koreans, like how they believe parts of Korea should be part of China...FTW?

Here's your prime example of how people need to get with the times.
It's history. Done.

No ethnicity related topics.

Daikirai: Your ignorance must be bliss, anyways, Its because its history...Haven't you ever heard of learning from the past?....So then are you the type of person who would be friends with someone who intentionally and horrifically murdered your family? Because...it was done, and its in the past?

Wow, can we not get onto this again?

Ignorance must be bliss.

Study history or something. Asians go way back and started forming stereotypes and assumptions generations ago. Some of these stereotypes and generalizations lead to Koreans and Chinese not being able to get along- but that depends on where you look, and WHO you look at.

Hate/dislike is not evenly distributed throughout any population.
