Hi guys! Since a while ago I've been planning to change from Sprint to a GSM carrier in the area. Not only was the ability to change phones easily appealing but I was tired of Sprint. Finally I have a job! -dances- and I'll have enough money to make the change. Right now I've broken it down to two phones, the viewty and the tilt. I like the viewty because of the camera, video, touchscreen functions, and the look itself. I like the tilt because of the capability to use different programs, the qwerty key board, the appeal of 3g, and wifi.

Right now I don't want a contract so I'll be buying the phone unlocked. I'm not sure if the 1900 band coverage of ATT in Boston (though I've seen a map and it covers most of Mass.). I'm not sure of the accuracy of that map so I'll be asking ATT about this. If not, I'll be using T-mobile with the viewty. In terms of price the Viewty is cheaper (not a smart phone, less features, etc) than the Tilt. Nevertheless both are in my price range (less than 500).

Hope you guys can help me out! Reviews by owners of either phone are also welcome here!

I've seen ranges from 250 (w/ contract u_u) to 500. It depends on the seller and also if you get additional stuff with the package as well.

I'm not looking for the cheapest phone, I'm looking for a phone that I'll love, and I'm willing to spend the money on it. The cheapest I've found it is 300 w/o contract on ebay, it's not there anymore though lol. I've found it for about 350+ shipping on ebay.

I recently found out that the Tilt is easily customizable too (ex. making the UI like an iPhone, making it into a gameboy, etc. XD).

However, I'm still very torn. Any help? ;3;

depends on what you want.

the viewty is truly a camera phone. it's a swanky camera that makes calls. similar to how the iphone is an mp3 player that makes calls. now the viewty has some nice features other than the camera but it's main focus IS the camera. plus it allows you to draw on the screen....doodle on pics man...thats so damn cute.

if you're into smartphone-esque features...the viewty is not for you.

i would personally recommend looking into other options before you decide on one of these. the viewty is a bit outdated now and the tilt...ugly and bigger than texas. i'm sure you can find a phone with a combo of features in a nice and sexy package.

The reason why I liked the tilt is because of the ability to customize, Windows Mobile (essays on the go!), hardware qwerty key board, and the options that open up to pay the bill. If I get it unlocked, I can always pay full unlimitied (w/ 450 minutes) with ATT or most features unlimited with T-mobile. If I'm short on money that month, I can always take off the unlimited internet and just use wifi. I can also probably use instant messaging (though limited) through wifi as well. Thus leaving me to pay just for the minutes. In additionally, I can always go prepaid whenever I want. There's a lot of options for it. Also, even though most people consider it a brick, I've played with it in the ATT store and it still felt very comfortable in my hand. The 3 megapixel camera is a huge plus as well.

For the Viewty, not only was it different and touchscreen, I really need a camera as well. I love photography but don't have a nice camera at home. However, payment wise it leaves me to fewer options. But, the Viewty is extremely tempting to me, and for the price I can get it sealed in the box, I'm extremely tempted. The Viewty has a ton of features that I love as well. So this decision is hard for me because like most people, I don't have money to just throw around.

For anyone who has the Viewty, how is the qwerty board? I unfortunately cannot play around with it in a store like the Tilt.

my friend has a viewty ... and she hates it.

I played with it for a few times and I didn't like it much ....

it doesn't respond too well sometimes ... and you have to press sometimes hard and two or three times for the touch screen

or maybe I'm not used to it (I play with my dad's iphone)

but the camera is to die for ... 5mp but alot of phones have that

and it's HUUUUUUUGE.

^ lol the phone isn't huge. it's smaller than the iphone and as thick as the SE w580i. >__<

as for the touchscreen...does she have a protector film over it. that will cut back on the abilities of the screen drastically. I had that problem until i took my film off and smooth sailing from there.

i've demoed a tilt in store and i felt it's pretty nice but it is a brick. it's heavy and huge and supposedly the battery only lasts for a day at most with 3G turned on. 3g for the viewty doesn't work in the us, so the only internet surfing you can do will be on edge which is pretty slow (depends where you are). if i were you i'd get the viewty (well i already have one) just to take pics (: oh yeah t-mobile internet is cheaper than at&t ($6/mo vs $15/mo for unlimited data)

Get the tilt. The Viewty's touchscreen lags like crap (at least compared to my dare and my friends vu)

oh dear lord.
Please don't get the TILT.
I have the tilt.
It's a fat piece of work..
it doesn't have much memory to it, the screen words are all white so you can't have wallpaper that is bright or has white to it.
The only real good thing about the phone is probably the camra which has really good quality and the keyboard because it's fun.

i would say viewty only because it's a lot nicer looking.
But if you're really into texting and not into just the look of the phone i'd say go for the tilt.
