Warranties are void unless you bought some accidental care/extended warranty from like bestbuy. So you can just let it sit and in a few days see if it will work again.
It will cost as much as getting a new camera if you wanted to send it in for repairs from canon.

Whatever you do, don't try to turn it on.
One thing last ditch thing you can try is to put it in a large zip-lock bag with a bunch of silica gel packets (you know, the ones that absorb moisture that come in those tiny packets) and put it in a warmish environment (like on a window sill under the sun). Keep it there for a day or two and see if it helps.

I did something like what you did with my MP3 player.
Take out all the things you can and let it dry out in the sun.
The best is to take apart what you can and let it dry in the car with the windows up for a couple days.

After drying it out for a few days and recharging it (and many tears), it suddenly revived itself, even if the keypad is very sticky and the phone volume isn't that loud no more. But it still works.
Did you try airing out your camera?^^

Thankfully, my friends were able to dry it enough but sand was stuck between the lenses, so it couldn't extract all the way.
Now it works, but the flash died. lols
How long has it been since you dropped it in the water? It most likely won't turn on again if it's been awhile...

I think Olympus is making some good waterproof camera which provide high quality pictures.
Sanyo VPC-CA8 is not a bad selection in this field. I'll recommend them.
Putting the case on the camera, it sounds a bit of inconvenience.
