no warnings just a ticket.. wacko.gif Last time i was in traffic school the guy next to me told me it was 425.00 that he paid for his red light camera violation + traffic school =X

Insurance Rates: as long as you go to traffic school your rates will not increase..

(edit: how long has the redlight camera's been there?)

Eh, you're going to just have to sit back and wait for something to come in the mail. Try not to think about it so much, like CatGoesMeow said. My friend thought she got caught running a red light. It was really nerve-racking for her but she ended up not getting anything in the mail and its already been 2 months since it happened.

Keep your fingers crossed biggrin.gif And don't worry about it too much. Who knows?

One of my friends pinkberryed @ me because I was waiting to make a left turn and by the time the car in front of me moved forward, the light was already yellow, but I followed the guy anyways, so according to my friend I "went on a red light". The intersection I was at happened to have cameras on EVERY traffic light post (4 way). I never got anything in the mail.

A couple of my friends have accidentally ran red lights too, but none of them ever got tickets.

I guess it depends on where you live, then.

it should come within 2 weeks or less. If it doesn't come within 2 weeks of the date of the photograph, you can actually appeal to have it dismissed (even though you can already appeal, just like everything else).

If you really want to know whether or not you got a flashed, call your local police dept. or the public works dept. They are likely to have that info on their system. Simple Google will yield the phone numbers.

if you don't like the red-light system, go to a city council meeting and attempt to fight it. I hate hearing stories of people moaning about getting fined for something that THEY had a chance to end. Just sit back and enjoy getting fined, or take action.

I sure as hell hate those freaking cameras and I'll be damned if I get caught and pay a fine.

I heard if you go to court and admit guilt, your ticket will be dramatically decreased. Especially since it will be your first.

This is true. You go to court and they will decrease your ticket cost. And when you go to court, you can still go to traffic school to prevent that point from going onto your record, thus eliminating the possibility of insurance increase.

So things for you to do:

1. Wait for ticket in mail
2. Go to court and admit guilt
3. Afterward, ask for traffic school info
4. Go to traffic school
5. Pay off ticket (or is this #3 too hrm)

Poof done! GL

Most of the advice so far is irrelevant as California has different laws then Texas.

All intersections that have red light cameras in Texas are required to have a 'Photo Enforced' sign. So odds are you had your picture taken since you said there was such a sign. However, this does not automatically mean you are going to receive a ticket - all photos are reviewed by a police officer so it will be up to that person to decide whether or not you receive a citation.

Also, in Texas there is only a civil penalty ($75 for each camera citation). By law the camera can not take a photo of the individual driving the car, they only take a photo of the license plate. So you will not have to take any driving school or worry about any points on your driver record.

Whoever is registered to the car should be aware that they may be receiving a $75 ticket because you ran a red light, be it yourself or someone else.
