I think its just a habit. You should slowly try to get away from that. Try eating less, or when you have an urge to eat something just exercise or distract yourself from it. Do that, day by day and eating lesser and lesser from the bingeing. You wouldnt want it to get out of hand. Motivate yourself with pictures of overweight people.

when you diet you should try not to cut something out of your diet completely (including junk food)
just lessen the portion sizes gradually.
I believe that's a more effective technique for dieting because you don't end up craving (and then bingeing) on bad foods.
