There are way too many out there... But the one that comes to mind most at the moment is the theme to Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade. It's composed by Hajime Mizoguchi, and I think the title is something like "Grace~Omega." In the beginning, there are some beautiful vocals by Gabriela Robin, then it launches into faster-paced (but still sad-sounding) instrumentals.
