It's illegal for not having plates on your front bumper in certain states. It will be illegal to put it in the front windshield as well. If cops cannot see your front license plate while your car is moving, then it's illegal.

If your front plate is anywhere but on your bumper. It is illegal, if you really dont like front plate, don't put one on at all, you can gamble and say you just didnt get the part to install the plate yet. but putting it on your dash is like saying "pull me over because i don't want to put my plate on my front bumper"

I see people w/out front plates all the time in jersey but cops dont seem to care as long as they have one on the windshield..

I don't see why everybody wants to take their front plate off.. sure it ruins the cars look and maybe the amount of air that goes into the engine bay but seriously is it really worth that ticket? for me, nope. haha but i also don't see the reason to have front plates in the first place because if your going to run from the cops, you're not going to drive in reverse to run from them..

Just like that Final Destination movie, when that Sean William Scott's head got sliced in half by a flying steel plate. ph34r.gif

Definitely illegal to have the front plate on your windshield. Very hazardous.

Most states require it. I know for sure in California it is illegal not to have it. Just put it on if you want to play it safe. I drove without one for 3-4 years without a ticket, but I was lucky.

Some people consider it as a hazard. Examples are stated above. If you really dont want to do things like drill a hole on your bumper then just get some 3M double sided tape.

I think anybody who puts their plate underneath their windshield is stupid. If you get into a really bad car accident, there's a CHANCE (not saying that you will) you might have the top of your head sliced off.. I don't think I would risk that AT ALL.

not true....depends on the state
in california u can have ur plate in ur windshield as long as it is securely mounted to it
such as using suction cups, etc

Anything blocking visibility (barrier of ANY sort..yes, including a clear windshield) is illegal, at least in CA. How do I know?

The cop, that pulled me over for that + tint....told me.

Got off with a verbal warning though smile.gif
