Doesn't it cost a crapload of money? I remember getting one.

Good for college aps though... but still useless.

I got something from NSLC. I think they're the same, but one's "global" and the other is in the states.

Actually, I'm not sure. I just keep getting a bunch of mail from NYLF and NSLC and a bunch of other places.

man i've gotten 3 invitations to those types of things. they're so expensive i choked reading the first one i got! i kinda wanted to go to one since i live right outside of D.C. and then there's some related thing in China i was sent info about that sounds cool. but i don't think it's worth it if you can find something else cool to do that's longer and more useful. i've been more looking into various universities that offer summer semester college courses for high school students, for instance i would like to study Korean and know multiple places I could this summer.

but if you wanna do GYLC then go for it i guess, a bunch of people from my school have done those before.
Hey, look! Finally a different signature after all these years!

Well, NSLC and GYLC are run by different organizations. GYLC is part of the CYLC group of programs. NYLC is the CYLC program in the states. They're non-profit, and invitation only, the NSLC programs are open to anyone that applies, I think, and I didn't see that it was non-profit, meaning they're out to make money.

Oh... is that somehow similar to the "People to People Student Ambassador Programs" thing? I got that, and I want to go to Europe, but my parents say I'm too young, since I'm only 14. ?? Does it really help college... I mean I get 12 credits, but if it does, I want to go...(?)

those invitations are sent to a lot of high school students. they'll say that it looks good on your college apps, but in truth, i doubt it really is. nearly everyone gets sent those invitations and there's nothing really that makes anyone who goes on these trips more qualified other than having the money. colleges know this. so if you have the money, go ahead, it'll probably be a great experience for you, especially if you like to travel. other than that, it won't really stand out or necessarily make you a better candidate for college.

^ yeah, what she/he said.
i got sent one and sent from other places and i thought about them, but today i got something in the mail that i think would be better so...haha. i don't mean to sound rude or anything, don't get me wrong. if you wanna do it go for it; it'd be a good experience. i havent been to anything of that sort because of the money and i was hesitant as to if it really was worth it.

Agreed, especially if you are applying to highly competitive universities. I didn't even write this down on my apps (if they only allowed you to write a limited number of extra curriculars).
