Just apply.. it's straightforward. While most people might apply during senior year, you must start now. Trust me -- I'm going to be a senior next year and since financial aid is extremely hard to get for me, I have to spend time studying for SATs, do ECs, study APs, fill out college applications... etc. This is overwhelmingly busy and extremely stressful, and while I know that it is possible to make it, it will be extremely painful going through it. It's best to start now so that you will have a little bit less stress than I do.
Fastweb is a good website, but you really have to spend time looking around it and start searching/applying now, planning now. There are all kinds of scholarships... amazing, from making a video, to writing about political essays (I'm sure very few people apply for them since politics isn't like the hip thing for most youth), to doing engineering projects (search Siemens scholarship... a person in a school about a few 10-20 miles from my school applied for it, did a project, and won beaucoup bucks), to writing more essays, man.. i can't even name them all.. just search search search. it's all going to be worth it in the end, if you really want to go to UCLA.
SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH. GO TO YOUR SCHOOL'S CAREER CENTER. GO ON FASTWEB. DESPERATELY SEARCH LIKE A MADMAN.
