justwondering, would you say samsung Mp3's or Mp4's are better than Ipods?
well, mp3's don't really have such problems like freezing/itunes/battery life but then Ipods are bit more easy to use...

Um..since you're not targeting a specific MP3 player of Samsung. I'll just go out on a limb and assume you're talking about the P2 or the K3 or something of that similarity.
As an owner of both at one time, I enjoy using the Ipod more in terms of accessibility. There's no MP3 player that can access songs or any other media more easier then the scroll wheel. Even my old mom can use an Ipod fairly well. When I let her try my P2, or a Sandisk, or a Zune, she was lost. Let's just say, the Ipod interface is extremely user friendly. I mean, I would be able to access my music from my pocket on my Ipod. Touch screen? Not so much.
In terms of sound quality however, after using the same headphones (Sennheiser CX300) on both the P2 and Ipod with the same audio file with the same KBPs and Frequency. I've come to the conclusion that Samsung (or in this case, the P2) has better sound quality over the Ipod. So if you're an audio enthusiast. Go for the P2
The P2 won't freeze on you. Don't worry. Mine went through the washer and the dryer and it came out in perfect working condition <-- it's a BEAST. If you had an Ipod in there, BOOM!
Last but not least, random features. Honestly, in my opinion from all friends and family and people I've read that have own Ipods and other MP3 players, features such as Video, Sound recording, Radio, blah blah are all novelties. Nobody ever uses them. From what I've seen, people tend to use the "Music" feature more often than anything else. Even though the Samsung P2 is loaded with Sound recording, the amazing Subway map system for major cities, the ability to speed up your songs, or have the option to listen to certain parts of a song, it's really all there as a novelty. Don't get soaked in by marketing! H
However...the only good feature about the P2 is that you can have lots of themes and your own background! I love starting up my P2 and seeing my little Sohee every single time
Edit: The bluetooth function can prove to be very useful. That's another feature that is worthy of being marketed. My cellphone wouldn't connect to my computer so I transferred music and photos from my P2 onto the phone.
All you really need in an MP3 player is music and sound quality. I know some people use it frequently to show off video or whatnot. But see what your needs are, because either one should suit you depending on what you're looking at. Commonly, if you're looking for a durable, long lasting MP3 player, either of them should be good to go.
So for my unbiased opinion, I suggest you get an Ipod. Since the majority of people I know can never tell the difference between sound quality, sound issues shouldn't be a problem unless you're an audio enthusiast. Plus the Ipod is really user friendly. I've been using the P2 the day it came out last year, and it tends to have some annoyances with the touch screen. You won't be able to access songs as fast as the Ipod, and the touch feature does take some time getting use to if you want to be efficient with it. And the standard 8gb is such a nuisance for a person like me with lots of music. And for a person like me with a lot of music, deleting music on the P2 becomes a project itself. Or you could pick up an Ipod and plug it in and everything will be updated for you.

Using similar audio files (320kbps MP3), sound wise the P2 is up there as one of the best sounding players.
The iPod is only average.
MP3 is the format of the audio that the player plays. (Just one of the many formats).
Lossless formats (FLAC, ALAC, WAV) are higher quality than lossy formats (MP3s, WMAs, AACs).
Thus an ALAC file on an iPod will probably sound better than a 128kbps MP3 music file on a P2. A 320kbps MP3 is high quality, but since its still lossy is is not the best, lossless are, however most humans cannot tell the difference between a very high lossy and lossless music file.
The thing with iPod's capacity (using the Classic) is that you can put all your music files as ALAC onto it.
Since lossless formats take a ton more space than lossy formats, you are able to keep a lot of them on your iPod, as compared to the max 320kbps MP3 (which is a ton of space also) on the P2.
Also remember....Headphones play a big factor on the sound quality.
Most earphones that come with a music player suck. SUCK. iPod earbuds are up there as one of the worst stock earbuds. Skull Candies probably suck as much also.

LOL I DIDN'T ANSWER THE QUESTION!!
Sound quality wise but not a ton of files = P2
Music quantity wise = iPod
However if you rip all your music into ALAC files (iTunes does this), load them to your iPod, buy a better set of headphones, and get an amp, then iPod all the way.
