The T5550 is a far superior processor; even though it's clocked at 1.83 GHz, it outperforms the TL-60 in many benchmarks. Also, not to mention it runs at a cooler temperature and uses up less power -- so the battery life is increased.

In this case, the Intel CPU is faster.

But overall, AMD has the fastest CPU.

For mobility, go with intel, AMD is behind on that. And that's what laptops should be... mobile.
I am the minority here.

The intel one is faster but the amd one should be cheaper, so I guess it depends on your budget.If you're going to do basic stuff you won't feel much of a difference in performance. I would say buy the amd and with the price difference get more ram

I use AMD, and it's pretty fast. If you have the money, you should aim for INTEL though. :]

AMD = not enough money
Intel = have the money

Either is fine, but Intel has been shown to be better further developed.

If you can afford the intel core2duo, it will be a way better processor.

u know, if u get a toshiba or an asus notebook with 2gb(min) RAM with 1.8ghz - 2.4,5,6,7,bleh core duo and a good video card then that's probably the only thing ull need to have a stable desktop replacement.

unless ure a high end designer/composer i don't see why some of you ppl need quad cores and high priced macbook pros if ure simply gonna play call of duty, go on the net and use msn.

sleep.gif AMD FTW. I feel as if amd has more overclocking potential then most intel phones.

Intel VS AMD

That's exactly what a group in my AP Statistics class did for a project. I believe they used different models than the ones you're deciding on, but it's probably not much of a difference. They found that Intel and AMD had nearly similar prices, but Intel performed faster and better in quality than AMD.

i believe that the intel core2duo uses less energy, maximizing battery life & efficiency. the amd is more power hungry and from my experience it runs a bit warmer than a core duo. i think if your going to just leave your laptop on the desk most of the time and you dont have to worry about battery life, save yourself a few dollers and get an AMD. if you plan to carry it around to class and what not, i'd get an intel.
