In August 2007 Jamie Gillentine dove head first into the ocean. But he didn’t know it was a sand bar. Jamie Gillentine shattered his 6th cervical vertebrae. Spinal fragments were lodged in his spinal cord.
Jamie Gillentine lost all feeling and movement from his upper-chest down to his legs. He had some arm movement but no hand dexterity. Here’s a video of his recovery which took several months.

the whole speech itself is very impressive and powerful,
but it was the ending (why he made the speech + pic of him and his kids) that made my eyes start to water.
thank you for posting this.

You have angered the Sun god Ra, you must make amends immediately.
I've heard that Ra is a fan of fondue parties.

Dug up a list of things to motivate ~
Tips on Staying Motivated
- Surround yourself with positive people.
- Any music that makes you want to move or gogogo ~ put it on the mp3 player.
- Have a pre-workout cd with music to stimulate your mind prior to workout (car ride)
- Place inspirational images and/or pictures on your wall
- Watch workout shows, or people do exercises on youtube
- Listen to podcasts of fitness shows
- workout partners ( get to know people at the gym so you have a more personal attachment to the gym so it becomes a place that you find is a 2nd home )
* I'm not saying have 5-10 minute conversations in the middle of your workout but there is no such thing as not having enough friends and acquaintances to spot you at any hour of the day.
- Apply yourself and study articles written by various fitness and strength coaches, so you'll want to go to the gym to try out new stuff.
- Take pictures every 2 weeks or month of your progress.
- Write down goals and look at your log every morning and night
- Watch Rocky 1 2 3 4 hmm skip 5 and 6 if you want.
- Meditate 15-25 minutes a day on what your going to that day and what you want to accomplish and think about what is most important to you personally and what drives you. How do you want to live your life. How do you want to be remembered. What kind of impact do you want to be on friends and family without having to say anything.
- Practice inspirational self-talk for 2-3 minutes a day.
- Recite speeches from braveheart, Gladiator and 300
- Watch movies like Braveheart, Gladiator and 300 .. fly daddy fly, once upon a time in high school, never back down, bloodsport, Best of the best (#1)
- Develop your own local fanclub/support group by letting people know through socialization of your incredible goals to totally change your body and emphasize the power of chasing your dreams
- Be a role model
- Help others out and in doing so show them that you know what your talking about.
- Demonstrate through the force of character and exercise who you are without having to grab someone and catch their attention.
- Make it a way of life, a habit, much like washing your hands before a meal.
- Have the fun that you wanted to have because you worked so hard!
- Go buy some clothes that makes you look badass and be proud of yourself.
- Remove toxic people at all costs - they come in all shapes and sizes ( including the mask of friendship )
- If someone is close to you and turns toxic then confront the issue list the problem and ask why they don't want you to succeed ( so long as your doing it healthy, with progression, and of sound mind ) they will have to logically confront their error.
- If that fails - ignore them when possible, be courteous but don't get dragged into a cycle of negative vibes and bad attitude

Oh my god.
My science/math teacher was talking about the Last Lecture.
:/ We were studying cancer or whatever.
;__; The last time I reseached/looked up him, he was doing well/wasn't dead x_X
Can't believe he passed away. D:
Thinking about it makes me cry > >
