usually there's nothing cool or interesting to say.
if there is, the other party isn't interested so

Pssh. I don't need some fancy shebang to make my greeting more outgoing.

LOL at the shebang. Anyway, I rarely go up to people and greet them to say hi or whatever. I'm usually shy, or I don't notice them. Haha. Yes. But if I do, I usually wave my hand and gesture for them to come near me. I say hi, hello, hey in different forms - usually those that cannot be understood. Lol.
