i'm grace and going to be a junior at CAS in the fall.
i just thought i would post something here, because i find it rare to find a follow NYU student on soompi. ^^
i dont think you need to worry about making friends at NYU, because i guarantee you'll make spectacular friends.
As for Korean friends, i wouldn't worry about that either. :]
there are a lot of korean students as well as korean organizations around campus.

that's awesome~ you guys will love it there!
i'm going to be a junior in the college of nursing~
you really don't have to worry about not meeting koreans--there are plenty.
if you really want to keep in touch with ur korean culture, join KSA (korean students association), they have a lot of events where u can meet a lot of people.

i was actually an alternate too, but during the summer, they decided that lafayette should have more RAs, so i got the spot.
training has been tough. i understand why RA job gets free housing and meals.
all the stuff that RAs have to do is incredibly difficult. haha
ive been having 9am-11pm during training, sometimes until 1-3am just making door decs and bulletin boards
but learning a lot of things
move in day is soon! am totally excited to meet my residents. :]

I love alll people lol, I'd be willing to be your friend if you're still at nyu and not studying abroad or something. I was in brittany freshman year and then coral towers sophmore year. I opted for low cost this year so I'm in Laf. NYU's been really cool and it was suprisingly easy to meet a TON of people. I almost feel like I have to know you lol. What's your name? If you don't mind me asking of course. Oh and I'll be friends with your old roommate too if she still wants a friend and you guys haven't drifted apart lol

I'll be your friend too! lol I'm guessing you've already graduated if you were a junior two years ago but if you're still around let me know!
I know this topic is two years old but if there are any people looking for friends at NYU reply to this topic and maybe we can all meet up or something in two weeks when we can move in.

Hey Kathy nice to meet you! Tips would be to not pack too much stuff especially if you live far away because you're not gonna use half of the stuff anyways, take advantage of the city because most people don't and regret it two years in, make sure to go out and meet lots of people during welcome week because everyone is so friendly and theres always tons to do, good study spots are kimmel 7th floor by the window, the classrooms in LL2 of bobst, and the lower levels in the stern building. The latter 2 are great because alot of study spots get taken really fast during exam weeks but those are usually fairly empty. Oh and don't attempt to buy pot in washington square park because they're all policemen hahaha(I don't smoke, and it's more of a joke that I heard a lot freshman year but I can't help but wonder if it's true.)
When we were freshman and had to get weekly meal plans we would get our extra meals at the end of the week and give them out to homeless people. Just a thought since you're paying for them anyways and will never ever be able to finish your meals. There's actually a lot more that you learn along the way but feel free to ask me about specific stuff if you have questions.

it doesn't have to be Korean friends it's just at the time I posted this (2 years ago btw) I didn't know any Korean people and wanted to get more in touch with my own culture. not even 50% of my friends here at NYU are Korean though over the two years here I've gotten much more involved in korean culture and that of course makes me happy.
