I was wondering if it was harder to get a good score on the test when you take it at certain times. I heard a lot of people say that taking it in October would mean the curve was going to be high so the chances of getting a good score is less than taking it in a later month. How much of a difference can it make?

My friend took the SAT Reasoning in Dec 2007, I took mine in March 2008. We got the same # wrong for CR, her score was 40 points higher than mine in that section.

I took the SAT Reasoning in March 2008 and June 2008. I got the same # wrong for CR, but my score in June was 40 points higher.

Curves can be really random.

Last year's October Math section, you could miss one and still get an 800. But, other months, your score still drops.

I've heard the January is the best month for curves since a lot of sophomores/people who want to "test" the test out take it during that month.

But, I've also heard that October and November are two of the hardest months because all of the seniors take it as their last tests.

Then again, everything is random. So, just be prepared for any month.

Kinda off topic, but I go to a summer school for SAT prep and took the verbal part, and got 755 on it. That doesnt seem right to me casue i got like 34 wrong and its out of 800 right?(we didnt do essay part). So is 755 an accuracte score, or did they screw up marking it?

^ I don't see how you can miss 34 wrong and get a 755. I missed five and answered all and still got a 720.

I've heard that it's harder to get a high score in the fall, but I'm not sure if it's true or not.

^ That's what I was told too, because more people have had the opportunity to study over summer.

...you got ripped off.
Scores are by the tens.
And..missing 34 questions is like getting more than an entire section wrong. Since there are 3 sections of critical reading (if I remember correctly), then that's more than a third of the points lost.
No curve in hell would score that even remotely near 700. You'd be lucky with a 450 with a performance like that.

i have the curves for the sat jan, may, oct of 2007

and basically oct>jan>may

but it COULD be just due to the difficulty of the questions though... liek sometimes a passage is extremely hard..

& also its hard to judge b.c even if you need the same raw score for an 800 on both tests, soem curves go down more rapidly than others so idk

ALL SAT SCORES END IN 0 lol 755 is impossible

and 34 wrong out of 49 of the writing section is a raw score of 7 and thats like.........fail

i think the curve is the hardest in the fall because that's when everyone is taking it.
schools and sat prep places recommend students to take the test in the fall.
and i'm taking the test in the fall. haha. not very smart, but you can always take the test again.

So, in what month do you think is the best to take the SAT?

I've taken it already and I did horrible and I'm just planning on retaking it.

I know that generally during the Spring, the curve is the lowest, but I'm not exactly sure.
