^ it's really just a personal preference. most people take the SAT because its more widely known, but i prefer the ACT. i've taken both before, and i don't think i'm planning to take the SAT again. well, most people don't like the fact that the ACT covers science too (because that's the hardest section), but other than that, the main difference is that the ACT is NOT generous with time. i thought the SAT was fast paced when i first took it, but man, its really nothing compared to the ACT. in terms of questions, i think the ones on the ACT are a little easier, but you have so little time to finish the sections - that's the hardest part. like for the reading section, you have 35 minutes to read four passages and answer 40 questions. you just have to know how to pace yourself when you're taking the ACT. the other difference is that the ACT has four main sections, and you finish one subject at a time. on the SAT, you have a lot more sections, but you have to constantly switch between reading, math, and writing every 40 minutes or so. i personally prefer to work on one section, and just get it out of the way. and the last thing is that the essay topics on the ACT are much easier than the SAT - that's a plus.
and i haven't started studying yet, but i probably will tomorrow. i need to cram during spring break because the moment school starts again, i know i'm gonna be loaded with work.
