GETTING STARTED
Q: Are Korean Cyworld and U.S. Cyworld connected to each other?
A: No.
Q: Is there a way to see who has visited my Cyworld?
A: No, you cannot see who visited your Cyworld unless they left a comment. Although, if that person is already your friend, it is possible to see if they have visited your Cyworld. Go here for more information.
Q: How do I sign up for a Cyworld?

Q: What identification must I send?
A: You can use your DRIVER'S LISCENSE, PASSPORT, or STUDENT ID to confirm your identification. You can black out your home address.
Q: What kind of information is required on the identification you send them?
A: It has to include your name, birthdate, and photo.
Q: Do you have to e-mail your ID first or do you have to register first?
A: You have to register first and then you will get an e-mail giving you the e-mail address to where you have to send the identification.
Q: I have to send in my ID twice?
A: Yes. Once you register and they e-mail you back, you have to e-mail them again with your ID as an attachment.
Q: How long does it take for them to send out the e-mail requesting the identification?
A: Pretty much instantly in most cases. The longest was probably a day.
Q: How long does the approval process usually take?
A: There's a turnaround time of about a week or so before you can log in. They have to do the ID check and what not so it takes some time. I suggest that you just give it about a week, and then trying logging in again (and you may also receive an e-mail letting you know you've been cleared and registration has been completed.
Q: If I messed up with the sign up for Cyworld, is there any way I can delete the account I made and then remake it?
A: I do not know if it is possible to delete your Cyworld. You can make a new account. You just have to use another e-mail address that is not already taken.
Q: What if I have a non Korean e-mail (like yahoo.com not yahoo.co.kr)?
A: yahoo.com and yahoo.co.kr are the same thing. It is just that yahoo.co.kr is in Korean. So, it is okay.
Q: Do I have to enter my real telephone number?
A: No. You can make one up.
Q: Should I register with the lunar calendar?
A: You should register with the non-lunar calendar birthdate since that birthdate is the one that is on all your official documents. If you send them an ID and the birthdate does not match up, I am pretty sure they will not activate your account.
Q: How many characters does my password have to be?
A: It has to be 6 characters or more and has to include at least one number. It cannot be more than 3 consecutive letters in the alphabet (ex. 'abcd' is not allowed).
Q: Do I get anything free when I join?
A: You get 2 coupons when you join. One coupon can be used for the flooring of your miniroom and the other for the wallpaper of your miniroom. Go here to learn how to use them.
CUSTOMIZING MY CYWORLD
Q: How do I add music?
A: You have to purchase some dotoris (acorns) first. Tutorial for purchasing acorns is here OR here. Then go here to learn how to set the songs you purchased as your background music.
UPDATE: Cyworld no longer accepts foreign credit cards so purchasing acorns will be difficult if you do have a Korean credit card.
Q: How do I send acorns to people?

Q: Can I upload my own songs?
A: No.
Q: How long can I have the music for?
A: Music does not have an expiration date.
Q: How do you change the format/background of your minihompy?
A: You have to purchase the backgrounds in order for you to change them or be sent them as a present.
Q: How long can I have the background?
A: Your choices upon purchase are for 7 days, 15 days, 30 days, 90 days, or 1 year.
Q: I just bought this skin but it isn't showing up even though I was charged for it. Is there a folder or something where I can find it?
A: Go here.
Q: Can I change my real name to my nickname?
A: No. Cyworld recently changed their policies so that the name and ID have to match. Unless your ID that you send in shows your nickname, it will be impossible to change. If you really dislike your real name, you can try to photoshop your ID with your nickname.
Q: Can I shorten my name so that it only shows my first name?
A: Yes. You have to send an e-mail to cycop1@nate.com saying that you want to use only your first name. You MUST include a copy of your ID. FORMAT: Go here.
