Outside :::::
The Pros I have found for outside is : You aren't on a digital clock, you get to see the outside. Time goes by more quickly. You can work on your tan or just get your daily vitamin d ( sunlight ). As a guy you can go shirtless without having a gym employee tell you to put your shirt back on. Chance to explore your local surroundings and get to know it all better on foot. If your friends really want to hangout they'll pick you up and take you back to your house to get cleaned up ( provided you have your cellphone with you strapped to your arm or waist!) You can design your own multi-tier workout with everything and anything along your run. You can vary your cardio simply by running on a track with bleachers. You can go as fast as you can without worrying about running into the treadmill console! You can work on sprinting and running faster and switching up your speed at the drop of a dime. Easier to do interval training.
Cons : you don't have a bathroom readily available, or water, you have to walk/jog all the way back to your home or wherever you started from. There may be safety concerns if your area has a high crime rate, or is known for mugging, kidnapping, robbery, rape etc. Bugs if your area is more buggy then others.. If you run in the city you risk getting hit by a car ~
Inside ::::
The Pros : you can push yourself harder then normally outside perhaps by setting higher speed, you can simulate inclines, with incline on the treadmill so if finding a incline outside is hard for you, then the treadmill is the most viable option.. Though overpasses are perfectly great inclines in the suburbs ~ You also have access to other machines if you are @ a fitness center, like cycles, ellipticals, rowing machine - Bathroom showers lockeroom etc are available * if you are at home this needs no further elaboration.
-- It is a place that your friends are more likely to go to to workout with you, the amenities of some places include, smoothie bars, sauna, jacuzzi etc.
-- You have other options besides cardio ( if its a gym - like weights )
-- You can do preset type of workouts on the treadmill, or focus on powerwalking and be forced to maintain a speed. Like I do morning walks at speed 4.0 ~
* eye candy, opportunity to meet new people; make new friends, and/or acquaintances or more! [gym related]
* you get a better understanding of the type of bodies that are under clothes ~
Cons : weird people, creepy guys, creepy girls, really out of shape people that run around yapping your ear off telling you your doing everything wrong, smelly people that don't use Deodorant or bring a towel. Posers that come dressed up but don't break a sweat. You car could get broken into ( if its the gym) and you didn't conceal all your prized posessions. You could lose your keys accidentally at the gym if your prone to losing stuff!! You risk seeing and meeting stupid people. You get a more real glance at the physical and athletic prowess of people and you find yourself disappointed.
ex. a guy or girl that looks great in their hoodie and baggie jeans, but in gym-wear you realize they are out of shape, sickly with high body-fat%, or just plain lazy when they are at the gym - with no goals ambition or drive..

This is something you can easily google, so I was wondering if you tried that first before posting. In any case if you didn't find this site here:

It's very informative, in a scientific sense than the pro/con thing the person above posted.

yet, its like, right there.
whereas outside is...outside.
to me, outside is always better.
i just need quit being lazy.
but drivers stare at me when i go jogging.
so i always bring along a friend or two.
at least i dont feel so violated.
i also do mini walks with my dogs.
its entertaining to watch them
so its not as boring.

I like to jog at night with my dog. Nobody's really outside and if there are any creeps they're probably scared of my dog because apparently a lot of people think he looks like he bites.

In January, I started my hardcore running on treadmill and lose 10lbs within a month. I didnt control my food intake, still as much; so I thought thats really a good one.
So after 2 months, I had some injury and stopped running. And I ate even more, thus gaining back the weight. Rebounce
Picking it up again BUT now, running outside. So far, ran for 2 times a week.
Heres the comparison.
In the gym
. No Sun
. Able to see distance, time, calories burnt on the machine
.Can stop anytime when running out of stamina, bath and go home
Outside
.Sun.. unless you run in the night which I did
.Wont be able to see the distance you run, but no problem with time
.Good thing is that if you really plan a running route, probably somewhere far like 5km away from your house. Make your way there, and no choice you have to run back too.
.Have to stop a lot due to the traffic lights & people traffic
.Better for your knees, according to doctors.

SO true. One con, though, (for my dog) he gets distracted really easily and will try to chase cats and other dogs. Then he ends up running 10x faster than I do and I'm screwed.
Really I think outside is A LOT better. With the treadmill, the belt moves for you, so you're really not pushing with your feet. But I guess it balances out though...if you do like incline and stuff...
So I just do both.

For me because I recently had surgery on my knee, I use the treadmill at home for BALANCE reasons. The treadmill allows me to hold the bars on both sides so I don't fall, it keeps my whole balance upright. =)
I don't really like the texture of the treadmill where you'e feet are on... I think the grip you get and the wind resistance is also better outside... but then if it's raining or snowing, hey there's a lovely treadmill where precipitation aint no problemmm hahaha

You can do either and you will see the result.
You should jog at least 20min a day, at least 4 times a week.
Some people prefer fresh air, while others feel more comfortable indoors.
Try both and see what fits you.
