I've heard and read that around 2 weeks before your period, many women have sugar cravings.

And this is currently happening to me. I don't know what to do about them. They are totally ruining my diet (I've gained weight T_T).

For me, it's not only sugary stuff... it's also very salty stuff.

During that period of time, I have such a hard time resisting stuff.

What do you guys do (for those that also get those cravings) in order to not overeat/splurge on junk food?
Goodbye to you. Goodbye to everything that I thought I knew...

Haha, how perfect. I just got back from my binge. =P
Honestly, if your body craves something, don't ignore it completely. Give in a bit and have bits of things that you want. Of course, to combat the extra intake of sugar/fats, work out a little bit harder. I've been working out all week, so when I go overboard with food, my muscle eats away most of the fat and I'm a happy camper =D

Or, if you don't have the time to work out, WILL POWER! Think of how much you want to stay healthy and how much you want to stay on track. That works for me whenever I feel fat and can't overeat.

Don't worry about it too much. In a week or so, it'll be all gone, yeah? Then you'll have a month to get back on track and strengthen your will power. =P

Good luck!

just drink one can of coke.
it can help sooth your cravings for a week.
i do it all the time.
just make sure you excersize afterwords.

Eh, i just satisfy my cravings.. honestly during your pms moments you can't say no.

There have been many times I wasted gas to just go out and buy one donut or like one cookie. hahaha.

It's okay, eating a lil sweet/sugar-ey food is okay.... just exercise when you're done your period.

ahh i know what you mean. i feel like i'm going crazy when the cravings start.

if you do cave in though, try and eat it in the morning so your body has all day to digest and burn it. take my advice because eating sweets in the evening will make you gain.

for me, my cravings/binges start right before i my period comes, but when it does come i lose my appetite and i lose all the weight i gained the week earlier binges.

Schedule cheat meals once a week or once every 2 weeks. Or I binge on healthy food like all you can eat salad soup and pasta , and since I lift weights I also binge on krn bbq.

* Diet Coke/Pepsi
* Fruits like pineapples

i just try to lose like a pound when i'm not on my period.
then when i am, i eat whatever.
plus my mom says when i have cramps to eat chocolate..
so i eat like three bars on the first day.
and then my mouth is happy, so.. i don't know. i always think if your mouth is happy, you won't gain as much weight.
cuz you lose calories from your happiness??
no idea. it made sense before i typed it out.

Usually we crave certain foods during our periods because we're lacking the proper nutrients....... make sure to take multivitamins and especially get enough iron when you're on your period.

At the same time, don't beat yourself up too much. As long as you're eating healthfully 95% of the time, a little cheat (esp. when feeling crampy and bloated) isn't so bad. If you're very serious about eating well, though, be careful how you give into your cravings. If you want something chocolate-y, have an intense chocolate bar that's 60-70% pure chocolate--you won't be able to eat more than a bit in one sitting. If you want something salty, have a small bag of the more "healthy" chips, or even just salted popcorn that you make yourself. Most cravings do only last about 15 minutes--for the ones that truly last ALL DAY, I would say you should cheat on your diet.

oh yes. that is happening to me right now. i was sooo mad at myself yesterday for eating a bunch of junk food but i couldn't resist. normally there's barely junk food in the house but since my mom is out of town for a couple weeks but my dad can get away with buying crap. so tempting. i want to punch him in the face. he think i don't need to diet but he knows nothing. NOTHINGGGGGG.
but yeah pre-period cravings are SOOO crappy cause i was also doing really well. i wanted to drop a few more lbs before school starts but i've only ended up gaining a couple. damny damn damn.

I have these freakish craving too; but they don't come EVERY time x]
I usually go for some chocolate or candy.
But lately I'm sick of it all, haha.

I hate these craving T_T. It's always sugar for me.
I eat fruits and lemon + honey + water.

I think you can go with lightly salted popcorns if you have salt craving (of course, air popped and light butter).

I eat fruits for sugar cravings... either oranges, apples, kiwis, watermelon or strawberries. So if you end up binging on these, it's still ok. smile.gif
