To me,
it seems like ipods and macs are invading the world.
but are they really that amazing
or are there better things out there?
computer and mp3 wise
oh yes.
any suggestions on a greater mp3
that is equivalent in technolgy or better as the ipod
with same price range or cheaper.
im totally against the ipod trend and seek better. Go PCs.
sorry if posted before.

Computers?
Self-build.
MP3?
Zune80 (Software is crap though.)
Creative (Before, now is kinda meh.)
Sammysung (YP-P2 touch screen anyone? The constant FW support makes the device like wine. Yummier as it ages.)
You have to give Apple credit to iPods. They jumped on the gravy train first, kept up the support, and improved over time. Great marketing scheme too. So many people bought their music from iTunes, they can't afford to switch.
If you say .mp3, I'd say 4/5 people would say iPod before any other competitor. iPods are so big, it's hard to compete. Credit where credit is due.
Mac computers are over-priced, over-hyped.

Laptops:
- Style: Asus
- Bit of everything: Dell
- Style (Mac): Mac (hehe), I gotta admit, they are very pretty and sleek. But I have no use for a Mac.
Music player:
- Style: iPod
- Features: Creative
Video camera:
- Portability: phones.
- Features: Panasonic
- Overrated: Sony
TV:
- Plasma: perfect for gaming and sports.
- LCD: not suitable for the above, plasma beats it hands down.
Mobiles:
- iPhone: great for browsing (without inputting text), media playback, poo for everything else
- Blackberry: great for emails, txt, mms, organiser, etc, but iPod wins with browsing, media playback.
Noteable mentions:
- PDA: dying breed
- Tablet PC: brilliant features but poor performance for anything other than tablet use.

Apple is based off of simplicity and looks. It does not offer anything that tops performance.
If you're looking for an excellent sounding quality mp3 player, the Sony Walkman S710 series and A720 series excel in this category. You can also find them ranging from $120 to $150 for 4 to 8 GB players, respectively. There are many other bonuses these players have to offer but you guys can look into it yourselves.
Sony S718f (Editor's choice):
-comes with noise canceling technology implemented in the player; can be turned on and off
http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/sony-w...7-32893506.html
Sony A720 (my personal favorite):
-comes with premium in-ear headphones that retails for $50 for free
http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/sony-w...7-32893466.html
For the price of one of Apple's laptops, you can get a top of the line business performance notebook...
Lenovo Thinkpad T61p: These are the laptops that can still boot up after a motorcycle has been driven over it.

Underrated Tech Support: Zune.
I have a Zune80. The premium headphones broke. They are covered under the warranty. After a few questions, I received my new headphones in 6 days.
