Alg. Ii Logarithms :(

I don't understand how to do this.
I looked at the examples but it's so hard to understand and their explanation is too vague.

For example, i dont understand the difference between the addition between logs and the subtractioon. All i know is that one is converted into a fraction and the other, a distribution.

I.E.

1. log 5^4 + log 5^2x = log 5^24

2. 3log 4^6 - log 4^8 = log 4^x

Addition of same base logs is multiplication.
Subtraction of same base logs is division.

So question 1 would be 4 x 2x=24 -> 8x = 24 -> x = 3
And question 2 would be (6^3) / 8 = x -> 216/8 = x -> x = 27
