I just got the LG Shine today from AT&T and it's kinda confusing but I'm sort of getting used to it now. but there's one thing I can't seem to change and it's the display name on the front screen. Do you know where you can find the settings for it? Cause it says 'AT&T' and I would like to change it to my name instead. I've already looked in "Settings" and "Tools" but I couldn't find it so I tried to find it in my manual but it only showed a picture of the main screen and that the middle of the screen is for your display message. Please help if you can! Thank you ^^

yeah the phone is really great. Before I had Samsung M510 so it took a while for me to get used to the Shine. The features are really nice. The sound quality is good and really clear. Oh and if you get the Shine from AT&T it's a little different since there's a joystick for the control, which is kinda hard to use, instead of that scroll thing. The phone looks really cool too. like the back of it looks like a camera and it has flash and it's also 2 mega pixel so the quality comes out really clear. The only thing I don't like on this phone are the keypads. They're flat like the ones on razors and they're sort of stiff. For ex. like when I press a button, the number or letter doesn't show up so I have to press it like twice to get it. But overall I think this phone is worth it. ^^

I don't know if the At&T lg shine's can take off the network name since I got my Shine a year ago imported from Korea
but at least i can try to help you

to change your name display go to settings, then display
in the display list there is network name
when you click network name you have an option of turning the network name off
after that you go back to the display list and click on standby text to put in whatever you want in there

Hm..I checked but it doesn't have "Network Name" as an option on the display list..maybe mine's a little different since yours is from Korea. but thanks for trying ^^

Yeah there are 2 ways to get a song as your ringtone.
1) You can go to a free website that sends ringtones to your phone (in a text message)
I've used FunForMobile but it doesn't seem to work on my Shine. It used to work on my Samsung though. But there's another site that's for free, Ventones, but you need an account which doesn't take too long to create.
If you upload a ringtone and send it to your phone, then you will receive a text with a link to download your ringtone. but you will be charged by AT&T or whatever carrier you have for using internet/text messaging (unless you have a certain plan) However, you can also send it as a multimedia text if you can't use internet on your phone but I'm not sure if that charges more.. unsure.gif so I suggest you check before, cause if you send a whole bunch at once you'll be charged A LOT. trust me..I had to pay like $100 for sending like 8 ringtones and pictures to my phone..hehe.

2) Or you can buy a USB cable that connects your Shine to your computer but you'll probably also need a Memory Chip. Mine didn't come with a memory chip, unfortunately, so I have to buy one :[

I recently got an LG SHINE too ^____^
I don't think AT&T allows you to change the display name. (or maybe it depends on the phone)
my last AT&T phone (although it was crappy) didn't allow me to either.
but when I was with Verizon for a few weeks, the phone I had allowed me to take off the network name & replace it with whatever I want.
