i was wondering if anyone can help me with some ideas of what club i should start at my school.. here is a list of clubs we already have:
anime
art society
chess club
chinese club
creative writing club
dj club
dance society
desabi enviromental group (do something about it)
debate
green thumb club
intramurals
math contest
model un
photography
pottery to end poverty
principle's advisory committee
robotics team
science olympics
student anthology
student leadership
student yearbook and archives
weight training
youth volunteer corps

i wanted to start the school newspaper but then i think that would be too hard.. and also i'm not thinking about journalism after highschool and i have no idea how i would start publishing it. i was also thinking about student council but then someone else propose this idea to the principle and he didn't think it was necessary since we have leadership. student council is very different from leadership though. please help me with some ideas of a club i can start in my school. smile.gif

Hmm seems like your school basically has all the clubs covered.............why don't you try starting a technology club or something? Try doing a survey in shcool and ask around what people would be interested in the most, and then make a club based off that. Your young you'll think of something:(

Start a club that you will be interested in. Don't just start a random club your school doesn't have for the sake of it looking good on your transcript or what not.

If you want to start journalism go for it. No one said you needed to do it alone. Gather a group of people that can help get it going. You guys can be like co-founders together.

If you like journalism, do a journalism club. Go for something you like.

Newspaper can be stressful, but it's doable. Especially if you have staff members willing to do it.

Maybe you can do a School Senate, which gives ideas to the ASB and stuff.

Don't just do it for the sake of it looking good on your transcript please.
It seems high schools are getting so much random clubs.

I could suggest garden club. I lol'd when it started in our school.
They just plant stuff around the school.
I don't care about your post count, I only care if your post counts.

When I was in high school, I made a Philosophy and Writing Club. We got SAT prompts and dissected those, collected evidence we could use on a multitude of random prompts, had fun discussions/debates all the while preparing for the writing portion of Standardized Tests (SAT I, AP Language, etc). It was pretty popular, but our school was also very Asian.

We had a club called GST, i forgot what it stood for but it raised money for the Canadian Cancer society. We sold daffodils which was pretty popular and had bake sales, also popular.
How about yearbook? Lots of people who were planning to go for journalism were in yearbook committee

Oh didn't see you already had yearbook there. Here's an idea, go visit the websites of various universities and check our whats clubs and org's they have and start one yourself.

A Philosophy Club? Sounds cool! What kinds of prompts did you study and things did you do? Hehe just curious it looks like a good club starter idea :]

Hmmz... and for Club Ideas... probably some type of community service group/club might sound good!

It looks really nice on your transcript plus it can be a lot of fun. ^^;

So I'm thinking of starting one of these Community Service clubs- can anyone suggest what it should do? If we raise funds... what do we do to get the money haha. And what /specific/ causes can we do it for?

Thanks for your input! :]

EDIT>>> Btw, what's a Key Club? Lol my computer's being slow and I'm lazy to Google it D;

I can aid you in creating a North Corea Freedom Association at your school.

I can provide video advertisement as well as advice. This would be a great opportunity.

If you like helping people or just doing community service projects, you should definitely start a Key Club.
