My plan ending, thank goodness
, and I want to get a different company. I live in America. So what plan do you have and are you happy with it? I was also wondering which or if there even is a plan that will let me use foreign phones.

ok america....if you have any interest in japanese phones or think you might in the future....do NOT get AT&T.
it's too much of a hassle to find a hypersim to work with any AT&T sim cards for any number of phones (like docomo). get T-Mobile since you'll need the gsm.
i'd say get T-Mobile anyway simply because of the gsm options.
you can check their plans online. just figure out how many anytime minutes you think you'd need and run with it. they have pretty flexible options.

GSM is the network that T-Mobile and AT&T use.
I don't like T-Mobile. They have horrible service. AT&T has better coverage. If you just want nice cell phones then buy unlocked phones that are GSM.

well as you can see it's giva and take.
AT&T with great coverage and lots of money and time spent trying to find a great sim hack for a tri-band phone.
or t-mobile with bad service but guaranteed ability to use those unique phones.
if you just want flashy phones that work on quad-band...then yeah at&t. but if you want those tri-band jp phones...not a good idea.it's all about what you want or might want.

I have a Sprint SERO (Spring Employee Referral Offer) plan. I get 500 minutes, unlimited data, unlimited texts, free roaming, and free minutes after 7PM and weekends for only 30 bucks a month! Unfortunately, Sprint is no longer offering this deal.
And for those who say that Sprint's coverage sucks, Sprint roams on the Verizon network when a Sprint signal is not available, and Verizon supposedly has the best coverage in the US!

I agree that T-Mobile has crappy service, but when it comes to reception and other aspects it varies from location to location. AT&T has a much wider network nationwide, and they have a huge customer based on the East coast from what I've noticed, so they pretty much dominate there. As for T-Mobile, the only area of the US I've found with pretty good coverage and has a wide customer base is within the Central-Midwestern states (everyone I know who has it only have it because everyone else has it and because the plans tend to be cheaper than AT&T's).
Honestly though, I've tried each of the Big Four providers over the years and regardless of what I use, I get little to no reception when I'm at my parent's home and it's ridiculous! We live in a well-populated suburb, not a rural place in the middle of no where like some of my friends do, and they get better reception at their homes than mine! Bleh. And I've noticed that having been with Verizon, I was the only one out of my friends who had any reception in high school, lols (it had to do with something in the walls of the building that blocked most receptions). Anyways, here's my rant on each of the different providers:
AT&T/Cingular - excellent coverage nationwide, excellent customer service, pricey plans (the monthly payments for the iPhone plan is ridiculous!), can use some unlocked phones, I have a tiny bit of reception when I'm at my parents house but no reception at school
Verizon - excellent coverage nationwide (I can use it while in the elevator~), mediocre customer service, somewhat pricey plans, impossible to use unlocked phones (they don't use Sim cards), I have a bit of reception at my parents house with excellent reception at school
T-Mobile - excellent coverage in the Central/Midwest US but only mediocre on the East coast, crappy customer service, provides a wide selection of plans and cheap service, can use pretty much all unlocked phones, no reception at home and no reception at school
Sprint - mediocre coverage (until it switches to the Verizon network than it gets pretty good), mediocre customer customer service, somewhat pricey plans, I can't remember but I don't think they were accessible to unlocked phones either since I don't think they used Sim cards, no reception at home and not sure about school since I got rid of Sprint as I got into high school
But yeah, after my plan expires with Verizon at the end of the month, I think I'm gonna switch to T-Mobile...just because their plans tend to be cheaper and so I can switch to using unlocked phones when my current phone annoys me or breaks (instead of always having to go to the Verizon store and getting a refurbished one or sending it in for a new one with Asurion and pay deductibles). Plus, pretty much all my friends use T-Mobile, so yeah. >.>"
