I have broken out in pimples on my forehead and my temples and I've gotten blackheads on my nose, near my cheeks and under my bottom lip. I've tried Clean and Clear for pimples, but it's really slow. Right now I'm using Clearasil, it's basically the same. Is it supposed to work slowly or are all acne medications the same? Also for my blackheads, I used Clean and Clear, but there's no progress. What have you guys used and what really helped you guys and what products shouldn't you use?

I have yet to find something that really works for the blackheads i get, i usually get them just above the brow in the whole sort of T-zone area, they really get on my nerves though, when i managed to get through ages 13 to 16 spot free i thaught i'd be acne free forever.

Steaming my face then just washing thoroughly with hot water has always produced the best results, i find.

Well, if this helps at all, I think you should try getting something organic
They help get all those impurities out. And they dont have bad chemicals
(however, you may have to shop online)
I'm going to switch to something organic sometime soon (when i have money)
I was taking these into consideration:
http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/face/face.html
The Liquid Castille Soap (its an all purpose wash)
or the Facial Scrub.
And they're not that expensive at all.

BUT
If you don't want to do that, then try some home remedies.
Lime (diluted with water) helps reduce my blackheads and pimples for a while.
Or like the person above says, steaming your face, and then just washing it helps too. But I use cold water to close my pores afterwards.

yeap, facial steaming is goood, it opens your pores and your skin gets to breathe.
if the methods suggested don't work, you should really check out a dermatologist before it gets worse.

Sorry to disappoint you, but all acne medications work slow and you usually have to find what works for you until you find the perfect combination. I recommend going to the site acne.org and checking out to see what other people do and can you find people with the same or similar "problems" you have and what treatments or processes they go through to get ride of their acne.

Personally, I started using Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser (which is somewhat drying, but effective). Neutrogena On-the-Spot 2.5% Benozoyl Peroxide Cream. I rub it all over the affected area and allow it to dry before I put on Oil of Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer. After that, I spot treat the "stubborn" pimples with the Neutrogena (only do this part at night). That is it and so far, my mild to severe acne has really cleared up and my skin is improving. I'm staying really patient and constantly and consistently do this 2 times a day. I also take Vitamin B, C or maybe a multivitamin. Also, drinking lots of water.

What products you use depend on your skin type, from what your describe it sounds like you have a combination of oil/normal. Tea tree oil products are good, I use one in a toner form from Kiehl's. Also avoid using heavy/emollient moisturizers on oily areas. Exfoliating help as well, I use the 2% BHA liquid from Paula's Choice, as scrubs are too harsh and abrasive for my skin.

Pimples- Clindoxyl Gel (prescribed)
Blackheads- try an aspirin + honey mask every 3 days. (add a lil water, let it sit, and mash up the aspirin, add a few drops of honey, leave on for 10 min, scrub, and rince off)
* aspirin in water is essentially BHA

for pimple Tretinoin and Erythromycin gel worked got my face cleared but their prescribe, although it did leave blemishes and scars. I do get occasional ones though and for black heads I did the lemon method, at first I saw no change but I did it again and I slowly notice my black heads were dissapearing

I tried Tretinoin (which is Retin-A)...well I got it prescribed when I was in China since I was breaking out horribly there.
It worked at first, but it wasn't as effective after a while.

ProActive works really well for me, and as for the blackheads, there's the Biore Nose Strips that works really well.

Reality. It's so much more interesting than living happily ever after.

No matter what you're using (as long as its effective), its going to take a bit of time. If you feel as though any of the over-the-counter products just aren't cutting it for you, I suggest you take a trip to the doctors for some prescription medications/topical creams.

be happy its working slow than not working at all
all acne products need time to work
when i asked my doctor he said the stuff he gave me needed a month ATLEAST to see even the tinyest results
and i started to see real results after 2-4 month

When i had blackheads, i usually used Differin. It really works for me, you can see results in like a week or so. My mom would always pop my blackheads around my nose, so i started using that Differin gel and within a week when my mom would usually pop my blackheads she'll be like "Ah, i don't see anymore". haha. Works like a charm. biggrin.gif . Or I usually use this black head scrub but didn't work as much as the gel. <3

I was like pimple free, I'm just turning 16 and my forehead just broke out like mad.
I'm going to see my dermatologist, because my sister has loads of scars from having acne, and I don't
want mine to turn like hers.

YES CLINDOXYL GEL IS MY SAVIOR. Haha.

Personally, I use FaceDoctor Complexion Soap followed by FaceSurgeon Complexion Soap. Both morning and night.
And then Clindoxyl before I sleep.

I still have some, but it's much better than before, and if I just take care of my skin, it should go back to being clear.

It does take a while for stuff to kick in though, so be patient!
