Just out of total curiousity, which one would look better on a college application?
Because for next summer, I have 2 options. One of them is staying in Cali and volunteering, or I can choose to go to China and do a internship.
I'd obviously like to do the latter, but since I only have around 150 volenteering hours, I'm wondering which would be look better on my college transcript
Thanks mama_gir1!

I'd go with the internship.

There's several reasons why, but it's like 3:20AM and I don't think I can word what I want to say correctly lol.

Just pretend you're one of the people that sits there and reads transcripts. You read several dozens and a huge percentage of them volunteer. You then come across a paper that says "Internship in China," wouldn't that POP out to you?

Or you can do a internship at a non-profit, which is more or less like volunteering =P

Do the internship. It's probably a better experience, my internship is a much better experience than regular volunteering (although... I don't get paid =< so it's more or less like volunteering XD)

Volunteering is important.

But, if I were an admissions officer, interning in China would stick out like BAM.

I mean, you can volunteer during the year.

But interning in China is like a once in a lifetime opportunity.

And if it's an unpaid internship, it can count as volunteer hours as well.

then what if its a paying internship? and you barely volunteer...would that intern make up for your lack of volunteering???
Diner Cook: She (Marge) left with rugged man.
Homer: (worried) Rugged? Is that the same thing as 'handsome'?
Diner Cook: Oh no. Handsome means he looks at himself in the mirror. Rugged means you look at him.
Homer: (groans)

Haha of course Internships. You can always do volunteering work during school time. And do Internship during summer. That what I am doing. But sad my Internship was over today. STUFF... tears.gif
