Jaw Cracking I don't think it's TMJ

I've been cracking my jaw a lot lately. I did it as a child then I stopped my habit. It started up a couple of months ago. I want to stop, but I get tension in my jaws which I want to relieve by cracking. It's basically like knuckle cracking.

I don't think it's TMJ because I don't feel any pain.

It seems like no one else can do it.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem was.
Oh, and will cracking my jaw make my jaws wider?

I used to be able to make my jaw click too, on the left side just under the ear. Now it clicks whenever it wants especially in colder weather.

That could mean you have an overbite.

I got my overbite fixed with braces. I have retainers now. That overbite theory could be a possibility though, since the orthodontist said that he couldn't fix it completely.

Ooh, well i had an overbite too (it's fixed now), (i also wear retainers now) and my orthodontist said that the jaw cracking that i still have is normal or something.

^ -- mine makes the popping sound, too!

it started when i got braces.
friggin' orthodontist said it'll go away once the braces come off.

My boyfriend has jaw popping problem and it annoys the crap out of me, cause
I hate the sound of cracking of knuckling or popping sound T________T BONES CRACKING OMG =X
He said he does it because he did it too much when he was young, and when he stops it,
it makes him irritated by it, and annoyed by it that he has to do it. But I said to get rid of habit.

It just makes your jaw bigger >__<

OMG, I have this too.
I just can't help but pop it when I'm bored.
As a matter of fact, I'm doing it right now. = =
I was really scared about this,
but then I found out that its normal. (:

my friend had this problem too.
her doctor said it was because she had too much estrogen
....so overload of estrogen might be the cause for you??
i think she took pills or something

I used to have this problem in high and middle school... it was annoying because it would sometimes just get STUCK like I couldn't open my mouth anymore because it would hurt but all i had to do with close my mouth and open again and it would be fine o_O it was weird. and it used to pop a lot (didn't hurt) over time it just naturally went away though... maybe I grew into it. lol.
