So for the last 2 months, I haven't been able to find a good book to read at all. I love reading books, but I haven't been able to find any good ones to read. Do you guys have any books that you want to Recommend to me?

And No. Please no Twilight, I am not a fan of that book. I read the first book, and the second book. And really disliked it. I love how she writes but I'm not really into the plot. I mean I like the whole vampire thing and all that. But Not really into the plot.
Bella just seems like Mary Sue to me.

well any good books Mate?

there are 4 volumes of this book. haven't read this in a long time.. it's about this girl who constantly have this dream about someone stalking her best friend.. haha yep

do you like psychological thriller? it's about this bunch bunch of coworkers, and one of them have this abusive husband. one day, she can't handle it anymore so she killed her husband. while she doesn't know what to do, she called her coworker and they chopped the dead husbands body and hide it in random garbages ^^ haha intense book, but it's a bit slow in the 3-4(?) chapter smile.gif

into those gender blender stories? this guy bet his cousin to be a girl for n time. haha it's interesting

into something scandalous? ^.- about a girl who had a one night stand with her best friend's finance!!! ohmy.gif she thought it was just a one time thing, but it turns out to be more haha

ready for something sad? it's about this guy who can.. times travel and met his one and only from there. there's gonna be a movie coming out

yeahh thats all i can think of right now. excuse my poor summaries

Thanks for the help!

Something borrowed seems really good. I guess I'm kind of into the Harry Potter kind of books and Confessions of a shopaholic type of book.
I forgot about what type of book I'm looking for. Not really into the Sad type of book, but any is fine.

I also recommend the time traveler's wife, its a bit hard to get into but its really a beautiful book that leaves you in tears.

Also for a bit more science fiction ish since you mentioned harry potter? Traci harding - the ancient future

I LOVED "the time traveler's wife." It is definitely one of my favorite books. A real tear jerker. But since you not into sad stories, "something borrowed" was a great read also. If you decide to read that, you should also read the sequel "something blue."

I love Amy Tan's novels. Her books give me goosebumps...in a good way. My favorite books from her include "the hundred secret senses" and "the kitchen god's wife."

"Five people you meet in heaven" was an incredible story. "Tuesdays with morrie", which is from the same author also taught me a lot of things.

THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD BOOKS OUT THERE!

Oh yeah, if you like coming of age books, try Sarah Dessen. She writes incredible stories for teenagers. My favorite from her is "the truth about forever."

Ever heard of jodi picoult? i just discovered her. her books are so unique. the plots are striking. read "change of heart."

I think I can help you add a few more things, haha.

It's about the struggles that the two protagonists have to go through just to be together. It's a very beautiful story that you will never see in another book again.

Hey, if you like Stephenie Meyer's writing, then you can always read The Host. I'm not really going to say much about it, but all I can say is that it isn't really like a typical science-fiction novel. It runs way deeper than Twilight because there are so many diverse themes that are present in the story.

The Lovely Bones is also a very awesome book. It's a beautiful novel as well... and also very heart-wretching. It's about how a family copes with their daily lives after the death of their daughter. I know it's not that great of a summary, but I don't want to give too much away.

A Thousand Splendid Suns is an excellent book. It's mostly a simple read, but it covers the lives of women in Afghanistan and the struggles they have to go through for their rights.

Other books that I recommend:

1) Pride and Prejudice
2) Wuthering Heights
3) Jane Eyre
4) The Kite Runner
5) Sloppy Firsts (and the rest of the series. They're really funny if you're into a hilarious novel).

That's all I can think of for now. smile.gif

It's not how you look in that body, but the things you do with it. You are beautiful."

Well summed up. My words exactly. I only read the first though. Couldn't force myself any further than that. >_<

Hmmm a non sad book. It's been awhile since I've read one of those. And you liked the HP books....you can always give "Lord of the Rings" a try but I feel some people may find it difficult to stick to since Tolkien writes so much detail that it can get really tiresome. They get fed up and state that having watched the movie was enough.

You can also try out the "The Hollow Kingdom" trilogy by Clare B. Dunkle (The Hollow Kingdom; Close Kin; In the Coils of the Snake). It's about a pair of sisters who return back to the house that belonged to their ancestors on Hallow Hill and the elder sister, Kate, is forced to marry the Goblin King, Marak. The first book focuses on Kate and how the unclear past of her mother drew King Marak to her.
The second book focuses on Emily as well as a side-story with an elf named Sable. I really wanted to read more about Emily because I liked her character but her story was set aside (thus a bit lame) to make Sable's story shine through, that would be my only disappointment to the second book but Sable's story was really well written so I let it go.
The third book is about Miranda, a somewhat "granddaughter" to King Marak (it's difficult to get into it without giving away the whole story). Miranda had been promised to be entered into the Goblin kingdom when she became of age but something happens and she is forced to stay with a small clan of elves instead. The last book was probably the most romantic, though I was a bit sad there wasn't a lot of King Marak and the Goblin kingdom. However, it is in some aspects my favorite book of the three.

Ehh, some people are so blinded by Twilight that they don't even realize how much more better written and less shallow it is than Twilight. I love Twilight, but the only thing that is in the book is romance and choice, whereas The Host has more meaningful themes.

I have more recommendations: Gods in Alabama and Janey's Girl. Janey's Girl is a young adult novel, but I assure you that it is so good! I'm not a fan of young adult novels, but that book is one of my favourites.

Try Golden Compass The first few chapters of the books is better than the whole movie. I like the Artemis Fowl series. It's about a genius boy who generally wants to discover if there is any truth behind legends. Fights or allies with fairies somewhat.
Children are all foreigners- Ralph Waldo Emerson

the bluest eye

Toni morrison writes with such poetic flair! She got a nobel prize for lit.

But with this book, don't read it if you're into frivolous reads, cos there's quite alot of substance in it. It's really tragic.

Read "Childhood's End" by Arthur C. Clarke. It's one of the most underrated books ever.

Also try "The Hot Kid" by Elmore Leonard.
