Statistically, it the most fulfilling is clergy-related.
Lowest is manual labor.

What about your opinion?
I think programming is #1
while being a doctor would be at the bottom of my list.

As a CS major, I actually think programming is pretty un-fulfilling because because if you're coding all day its just text. I guess there's a strong feeling of satisfaction that can come quickly when you hit compile and it actually runs. Guess thats what happens when all I see are basic stuff that never accomplish anything useful. (Doesn't help that I am tired/hate programing) But I can definitely see how you can be satisfied especially if you're part of this statistic!! http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/...ome-iphone-devs That's a pretty big incentive I think!

Unfortunately, if I did know whats fulfilling I should have adjusted to that major instead. I would venture to say fixing computers and helping people but that whole concept is messed up by the Geek Squad. sleep.gif

^ depends on your outlook. if you can make cool stuff that people enjoy using, that brings with it a personal fulfillment much different from the fact that your code works and compiles. i work with the end user in mind and if i create innovative solutions for someone in such a way that it makes their life convenient/better, then i'm also happy with it.

i'm not a programmer. i work in the business of people. it's just that i happen to do it by writing code, and i think that makes all the difference in the world.

This is a stupid question. (no offense)

To start off, how can you say that something is "statistically" more fulfilling?
That would mean that several people were polled as to whether their job was fulfilling or not.
That's all very subjective.

Feelings of fulfillment will vary widely from person to person.
Some lawyers will find themselves content while on the job, and others will be left wanting more.
This will always be the case; there is no "perfect career".

Hm... I think the best and worst fulfilling career is to not have one. Since you don't have a career, you will never know what you missed... but it's because you never know what you missed that makes it not fulfilling at all! ohmy.gif

Every other career has good and bad sides.
I stopped believing.

Subjective about fulfillment, like that pol that said Denmakr had the most happiest people then in the top ten was Columbia............

I hear Accountancy is pretty unfulfilling. But with the right qualifications it can be pretty damn fulfilling currency wise wink.gif

The most fulfilling? charity/volunteer work? and for the materialistic being a Hedge Fund Manager =3

This is a stupid question (Full offense).

Worst: Being You.
Bests: Not Being You.

Hell, even getting paid to be you is a job no one would really want.

Most fulfilling for me: Traveling researcher. It combines two of my favorite things to do. The career constantly changes depending on what the topic of research is and where you are.

Least fulfilling for me: Anything that is mundane or goes against my morals. There are a whole host of jobs like that.

Most of them actually, which is around 15.

How many friends do you have? Imaginary doesn't count.

Yeah. I answered it by saying that it's completely unreliable.
That's like surveying different people and asking them if they like the color blue,
then using that data to state that blue is or is not a good color.

You need to stop getting so butt-hurt.

god avant-garde is such a cocky prick. let us state the reasons.

1. he posts his essays as threads as blatant pleas for praise and attention

2. he made a thread saying that an 1800 SAT score is mediocre and you should jump off a roof if you get a 1500; considering the average sat score is around 1500, we would have lines on the empire state buildings to hop off.

3. he states in this thread that a doctor is the most unfulfilling job (without reason) which was obviously meant to incite an arguement. a fair amount of people are doctors for the joy of helping people, so that is just ridiculously invalid.

4. he is obviously disliked on this forum by the majority of the people and it is clearly not without reason.

Just 15? What a shame. Oh, and mere acquaintances don't count.

It's information. Got a problem with information?

I cannot help but laugh at your automatically assuming nature. How lowly of a being to allow sentiment to forego reason.

i find it quite pathetic you have to defend yourself against 3 people in one reply; it is a clear indication of your human nature. by the way, you only defended yourself against 1 out of my 4 claims. happy.gif. and your defense of the one you did react against was quite ridiculous and edifies your pompous behavior. :>

he did ask for your opinion. didn't really ask you to state your reason as to why you chose those as your best or worst choices. for him, he may see being a doctor as unfulfilling. i don't think he's saying that being a doctor is a bad thing but its just not the right thing for him.

i just think he likes debating and confrontation. smile.gif
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side

Given your lack of response, I'd say that's 30 more than you have.

How do you make negative friends? Beats me, only you can do that.
