Hi ^^ I was curious about Samsung's Softbank 920SC (Pictures here and here and info here and here).

Would anyone know specific stores(like an address to the store/mall) in HONG KONG that this could most likely be found at?
All of the sites and information i've found about it have japanese currency as the price and I wanted to know if this phone could be bought at Hong Kong. My mom's friend had bought an Anycall phone in Hong Kong so I figured they would have this phone there too. ^^;; ? Anybody who owns the 920SC or sold it before, could you give me an estimation of how much it costs? I've seen very different prices for it and i'm not sure how much i'll need to even buy it. =/

Also, this is a smaller question that I dont absolutely need to know but it would be definetely less confusing. XD; What is Softbank exactly? It's still a Samsung phone, but it's called Softbank? I've also heard it been called "Anycall 920SC" but I found fewer search results using that, so i tried Samsung 920SC and i found a lot more info on it. Would anyone know the reason to why? 8D;
Thank you miika ^^

It'd be great if you could help me out, thank you~~~ ^^

I would like to know where to buy the unlocked Japanese cell phone too ><
My frd told me that somewhere in Mong Kok would sell them, but I can't find them when I was in HK last year =\

I know that some will sell in the ebay, you might check it out too, but it's just extremely expensive - -"

Yeah ^^; I've heard alot about online scams and lots of people that it's happened to through online selling on Ebay and other sites so I probably wouldn't buy them through Ebay or anything. XD;

Ohhh, you went to Mong Kok in HK and couldn't find them? @__@ I'm thinking of asking my mom's friend where she'd gotten her Anycall phone if I don't get any answers on here, but i'm not sure if they'd have the Softbank ones there.

No, they don't sell Softbank in HK.
I believe HK only sells GSM/CDMA phones, not japanese one. As far as I know, when my boyfriend went back, there were no japanese phones. Since they have their own frequency, it's really hard to find those unlocked ones. It's illegal in Japan too. Probably in HK too... Your best try at finding the phone online at ebay or plemix or possibly craigslist.
BTW,
920sc is NOT associated with anycall, it's strictly a softbank series. Softbank is a corporation like Verizon, except that they have their own phones that aren't sold anywhere else. And yes you can type Korean on it.. Though it's primely a japanese phone..
I got mine for 400$ from a soompier heree.. it was brand new too. Though, that's probably the lowest price for a new phone. Most are 420-500$

Aww, okay~ Thanks for clarifying. XD; I'd always see the prices and stuff on pages that are .tw and .hk(the extensions) and then there was my mom's friend's Samsung Anycall so I was confused as to why it would have a price in Japanese currency. Unrelated question, but i'm most likely not going to be able to buy a cellphone online(my parents, they're EXTREMELY iffy about buying things online - especially electronics like cellphones and video games) but would you know if HK has the Anycall Haptic?
I was looking into that phone as a second option but I can't seem to find any information about it at all - i've looked on the official Anycall site but I can't find the model(which makes it hard to find the price) @_@;

Wait, unlocked Softbank phones are illegal in Japan and HK? D:

Ohh okay~ Thanks ^^ I think the person must've labelled the image wrong which is why the search results didn't come up for Anycall 920SC.

Wow! 400 is pretty cheap ^^ I've seen some online on ebay and chinese auctioning sites and they're usually around 440, 425, i've even seen one for almost 500(this is in Canadian $).

unlocking cellphones in japan is highly illegal.. but probably not in hong kong.

Hmm.. There might be smaller stores that sell them. You could look around online for sellers located in HK..
And so far the Haptic hasn't been unlocked, but in HK there's the "asia-wide" version. Samsung F480 & Samsung F488

Ohh I see~! Okay, thank you ^^ I replied one of your replies to my comment on the Softbank 920SC review thread and don't answer my question about unlocking in Canada, I should've read this first. Sorry~~ I think my mom's friend would know about unlocking phones because her Anycall is completely use-able.

Aww okay, yeah and the Haptic is pretty new so it probably wouldnt be. ;~; My mom's friend's Anycall is this one and it's probably much older. I should probably look for an older model then. ^^ Thanks for all your help <3

Here's a hypersim,
with hypersim unlock you have to buy this and put it on your SIM card so you can use it outside of Japan..

You cut your SIM card and stuff.
With software unlock, you don't need to.
There are lots of stores that cell unlocked cellphones (they are expensive though).
If you get a cellphone that isn't already software unlocked, it'll cost a lot more to just unlock it x_x

Going to Mong Kok is definitely correct!
There's a place called "Sin Tat" - basically, it's almost like a "computer mall" except they sell ALLLLLL unlocked phones biggrin.gif
Softbank/Docomo/etc...
Here's the website: http://www.28phone.com

I've also seen smaller phone shops here and there in Causeway Bay - one is across from Timesquare and another is below Quiksilver ..
PM me if you want more info!

whoever said HK has no japanese phones... ahh you're wrong sweatingbullets.gif

just have to know where to find them!!

^ softbank (prev. name was vodafone before they changed it) is like a cellphone provider, samsung is a phone model (usually the specific model is exclusive to the provider) which softbank has.

OR something along those lines...

ARGHHHHH!!!! My uncle just came back from Hong Kong. I asked him to find these phone for me but i think he ask them in the shopping mall or something. The person told him that there is no more unlocked phone in Hong Kong and the model i'm asking for are too old. (Well they are old because i have a very limited budget.) I'm soooo sad about it right now. So i guess the only place you can find unlock phone is in the place where miiloverx2 mention. Not in those shopping mall that's for sure. T__T Hope you can find your phone!!!

What phone were you looking for? And what shopping mall were you looking in? My mom's friend says she knows where to get the 920SC at Sin Tat plaza so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get my phone ^^ Good luck to you too!

A song can take you back instantly to a moment, a place or even a person.
No matter what else has changed in you or the world, that one song stays the same, just like that moment.
