does it cost money to instant message on ur phone? like texting?

it depends on the cellphone service you have.
for verizon, t-mobile & cingular/at&t they count each im you send as txt msg,
but for sprint, they don't count as txt msg, cause it's included in your internet fees.

if you have a text plan im pretty sure it just goes down as a normal text? thats what someone told me about AIM on my phone (t-mobile)

IM'ing cost the same as texting. Each receiving and sent message counts as a text. Make sure you have a text plan or you will get a big surprised on your next bill.

i have at&t and im told not to go on aim or msn on my phone
because itll cost me money, even wen i have unlimited.
even on the site it says itll cost when u receieve ims unless u sign up for this thing ?

i used to have the sidekick, das wen i didn't know about unlimited txt plans so i got stuck with a $600 bill
no exaggeration whatsoever~....
now i have helio with unlimitd. yayee!

for t-mobile, it counts as a text message. also, remember that there are hidden fees - each time you sign in and out, the buddy list refreshes, etc. i think they count as a couple of text messages each. i think i remember someone telling me that each time they log on, it sends 5 text messages (or something like that).
if you have a data plan, try using ebuddy. that's what i use and it has msn, yahoo, gtalk and aim (and you can sign in to all of them at the same time).
