Decided to buy car cover. Ilive in an area where I have to either park my car in a highly vandalized area, or sacrifice my newly waxed car to the rain god's.
Looked around and saw how "California Car Covers" seem to have gotten good reviews. None of their products are 100% waterproof though.
I'm looking for something thats waterproof, has UV protection, cable+lock capable and is breathable (meaning the car wont collect water under the hood).
Some more searching and I found this: LINK. Looks too good to be true.
Looked around Autozone and Kragen and they had el cheapo brands that look like it would soak up water like a sponge.
Anyone got any recommendations or what-not?

the supposedly "good ones" run about $200, but like I said, I can't seem to find one thats actually 100% waterproof.... That's a bit on the expensive side, but I'm willing to shell it out for at some protection. The supposed "100% WATERPROOF!!!" car covers run to about $50 which is suspicious.
im a post rainbow today. this is like my 10th post. teehee.
"rainbow"? hahaha...

ah yes. the dreaded car cover. you can try one if you want, but believe me, its much easier just to use your saturday morning to wash&wax it.
+++ taking off and putting on car covers really tested my patience. in the end, my expensive car cover is being used to protect the feet of some chairs in the garage.

^ yeah.
I'm always traveling coast-to-coast for extended periods of time though, and I don't have a garage to put it in. In the long run, it'll pay off for me. (unless of course I damage the paint while I put the cover on)

Good topic. I also park in an exposed area by sun and this humungous tree with these purple berries that stain my white paint.
I was going to buy one but decided to wait until I get another car so I did some research. I found they range from 200-300 minimum for ones that are breathable as well as water repellant. Let me know if you find out more info because I want to invest in one soon, but removing and covering it every single day? How much of a hassle is it for a daily driver?

I bought a $35 cover from Walmart and left it on my car for 6 months. All it does is protect from the sun rays. Lots of dust will still get in regardless.
Also, buy a cover 2 sizes above what you think it should be. For my GTI, a large fit will. I bought a small, and the thing wouldn't cover my entire car. I got pissed as I had to return it.

^ i dont want to sound like an bubble gum, but the amount of dust and crap sounds like it was because it was a el-cheapo brand from Walmart. granted though, crap is bound to find it's way eventually inside.
For anyone that gives a rats ass:
i think i've boiled it down to the 2 best choices for covers:
Weathershield HD- $240
"Let me put it this way. That exact vehicle/cover you see in those pictures stayed in that very same spot all through Hurricane Katrina. When I returned, the cover was still on it, and there wasn't a scratch on the car to be found anywhere. The outside of the cover looked like.......well......like it had been through a hurricane, lol, but a good cleaning and it was good as new.
The Weathershield HD is by far the most durable cover I have come in contact with. If your car stays outside in the elements, I highly recommend it."

and the "Noah" from California Car Covers- $199

Think I'm going to go with the Noah.
Both are in the same price range (above my limit), and seem to be breathable, somewhat waterproof, and have high praises from it's users.
