I'm gonna be getting a new phone and my two favourites right now are:

TELUS - Samsung Instinct

Pros:

• Family uses telus - can get a better deal/rate plan (i can escape any unnecessary 'vision plan' requirements)
• its a nice, new sleek phone? xD
• sister really wants me to get it - her friend switched to rogers and is coming back to telus when the instinct comes out cuz he said telus had better connection?

Cons:

• dont know how much it will cost on a 3yr contract
• i want to use my own mp3 songs as custom ringtones but telus locks that (does anyone know how?)
• i dont know much information about this phone yet

ROGERS - LG Vu / Prada

Pros:

• $100 on a 3yr contract seems pretty okay
• Rogers phones allow mp3 songs to be used as custom ringtones (important to me!!)

Cons:

• I'd be the only Rogers in my family
• Little-No chance of getting a 'better' deal/rate plan since i have no rogers-history-benefits
• i dont know much information about this phone either ._.;;

What do you all think about the following phones as alternatives?

• Telus - LG Venus
• Rogers - Sony Ericsson W580i
• Rogers - LG ShineTU720

...or should i just keep waiting?

Things of importance to me:
1. mp3 custom ringtones
2. can i use gif files (moving pictures) as my main display
3. cheap/value rate plan (about 100txts or less+call; no need for extra functions like vision plans)
4. nice camera - higher megapixels doesnt always mean a better camera right x_o;
5. vulnerability - the chances of it breaking on the interior + exterior.

All help/suggestions/opinions appreciated!! hurray for soompi-tech-wizzes!

^ wait for promotions; i got my plan when it was a promotion season [ xmas ] and i love it, never went over

* Telus - LG Venus < kinda big and hard to get used to if you ask me
* Rogers - Sony Ericsson W580i < i have this..trust me dont get it
* Rogers - LG ShineTU720 < no coomment.

i would go for the vu btw .

Yea... It looks nice in pictures, but when you see it in person
it looks like some ghetto backalley chinatown psp-wannabe phone.
Also it can't show gif's. Like you can see it, but it doesn't move.
It just feels/acts like a really cheap phone.
(How do I know this? One of my closest friends has this phone)

i heard there some problems with the vu because i work in a cell phone shop i talk to customers about it; but the samsung instinct (i think the model number is M600) loooks nice : ) but it is bigger compared to the Vu.
