I just got the w580i red from rogers and realize that they disable the picture ID and personal ringtones...can anyone help me on this? for the pic id thing...when i go to my contacts and the options, theres only 2 tabs, not 5 like everyone said. and i tried the DRM thing and it didnt work

well i dont know if its rogers, but for most phones
ur contact has to be saved to your phone and not sim for you to set personalized
ringtones and picture ids

thanks, i just got the picture id thing now...but the ring tone still doesn't work. i tried to use a recording as well but it doesnt allow me either

menu > contacts > new contact PRESS OPTIONS > advanced > default contacts > SWITCH TO PHONE CONTACTS instead of SIM CONTACTS.

thats all.
it fixes the "5 tab options"
but as for ringtone..i tried helping
but i think you probably did a step wrong ><~
maybe try finding a video / screencap tutorial.

ROGERS have their phone all locked , and you cant use all the functions sony ericsson provides .. which sucks .

ringtone theres are 2 WAYS:

1) UNLOCK your phone , that will cost money haha
2) the CHEAP WAY , download the "DRM PACKAGER" from the SE site. that program will convert your song or ringtone to a .drm file and you can transfer the music to your phone with the usb . and you can set that as ringtone.
IT WORKS , IVE TRIED IT ! : ) ... but if you get your phone unlocked theres no need to go throught all that hassle : P

edit: didnt see you tried the drm thing .. try it again it works.

when you create the file , the program will create two other folders in the output file you specify.
one folder is named DRM and another folder inside called RIGHTS.
you drag the the song file with a lock thing icon to your phone.

for ringtones, just convert the files to WAV and upload them onto your phone.

i tried that and the file icon i get has a lock on it but the file i get is "Forward-locked or Combined delivery content file". lol im not sure what i did wrong. how do i convert it into a .drm file? i tried uploading it to my phone and it wont work

I had the same problem! *twitch*

I right cliked on "properties" and it said that the file was already in DRM formate... @_@
