hi,
recently, my friend thought it would be funny to write funny things on my windshield when it got foggy..
she then proceeded to "erase" it with her hands, and now, you can see dried-up water spots on the windshield T_T
i was wondering if anybody knew any fast and CHEAP way of cleaning windshields.
my mom told me to use windex or any glass cleaner, but i heard windex is really bad for the car, and i don't want to take the risk using other window cleaners.

thanks in advance!

you can try the water and vinegar mix and using newspaper to wipe. I've used newspaper to wipe the window before and it always leaves it streak free. if the newpaper starts falling apart, that means you put too much solution on your windows. give it a shot and see.

windex is not bad if you use it for the windows lol. A car window is like any other window so its okay to use it. Just do get it on the paint as it will probably damage the clear coat.

Windex is fine as long as it stays on the glass.

My friend just opens up his sun roof and pours bottled water onto the windshield and then uses the windshield wipers. It was probably the most ghettoist thing I've ever witnessed.

Listen to your mother; use Windex. Spray it on a paper towel first, not directly on the windshield itself.

Newspapers were always great at getting a streak free shine! Make sure its the newspaper with the ink that comes off on to ur fingers and hands... thats the one that really absorbs!

using windex on tints apparently makes the tint bubble so it is not recommended for people with tints.

if you have tints, stay away from windex.

Ammonia in Windex turns tint purple. If you get ammonia-free Windex you wont have to worry about that. If you have no tint, even less to worry about. It is perfectly fine for glass.

LOL that is ghetto.

If you use paper towels, make sure it is a high quality one that doesn't break apart as the fibers can create a mess.

oh, sorry about the windex thing..
i just remembered a while ago at church, we accidentally got ice-cream on someone's car and used windex to clean it, and the guy got super upset, telling us to "never use windex to clean the windshield". I guess it's the addition of ice-cream that makes it bad? I don't know...
i actually feel really bad for getting ice-cream on his car, and even worse for not cleaning it up right >'<;;;

BUT ANYWAY!

thank you for the suggestions. i'll be sure to try it out..
and no, i don't have tinted windows, so i guess i was worrying about nothing...=)

The windex aversion is tints and people who think their windows have coatings. Use it on the exterior without worry. Plain glass is amazingly inert.

Those water spots are mineral deposits - vinegar water will react or dissolve the problem.

I usually wash and claybar my windshield, then hit it with Klasse All-In-One, for incredible water beading and insect cleanup. Also, it makes cleaning ice off a lot easier (comes off in one big sheet!). AIO is lots better than Rain-X, and a good foundation for other sealants/waxes on the paint, too.
