Cleaning Windshields

recently, my friend thought it would be funny to write funny things on my windshield when it got foggy..
she then proceeded to "erase" it with her hands, and now, you can see dried-up water spots on the windshield T_T
i was wondering if anybody knew any fast and CHEAP way of cleaning windshields.
my mom told me to use windex or any glass cleaner, but i heard windex is really bad for the car, and i don't want to take the risk using other window cleaners.
thanks in advance!

Listen to your mother; use Windex. Spray it on a paper towel first, not directly on the windshield itself.

if you have tints, stay away from windex.

LOL that is ghetto.
If you use paper towels, make sure it is a high quality one that doesn't break apart as the fibers can create a mess.

i just remembered a while ago at church, we accidentally got ice-cream on someone's car and used windex to clean it, and the guy got super upset, telling us to "never use windex to clean the windshield". I guess it's the addition of ice-cream that makes it bad? I don't know...
i actually feel really bad for getting ice-cream on his car, and even worse for not cleaning it up right >'<;;;
BUT ANYWAY!
thank you for the suggestions. i'll be sure to try it out..
and no, i don't have tinted windows, so i guess i was worrying about nothing...=)

Those water spots are mineral deposits - vinegar water will react or dissolve the problem.
I usually wash and claybar my windshield, then hit it with Klasse All-In-One, for incredible water beading and insect cleanup. Also, it makes cleaning ice off a lot easier (comes off in one big sheet!). AIO is lots better than Rain-X, and a good foundation for other sealants/waxes on the paint, too.
