Hey guys, I have a little dilemma here. I have been planning to do some college visits at the end of this summer. I scheduled a tour and info session at Emory next week but I'm not sure if I should go. My parents just kept reminding me how much I need to improve my SAT score -.- They think it might be more worth the time f I stay home and do SAT prep instead of taking a 3-day trip to Atlanta. What do you guys think? For those of you who have already visited colleges, is it worthwhile? Thanks so much for helping!!
Edited: Thanks for your input, Avex! Just to give some more details.....I'm retaking the SAT in October because I want to apply ED to Duke. With that said, Duke is my goal. But Emory is still one of my top choices.

I don't know about Emory, but I'll give you my general opinion of college tours/visits.
You can learn a lot if you go during when school is in session, especially to see how people feel around campus. You can even go after you get accepted and find out if it is the right school for you before you tell the university you are being accepted.
However, if you only have time now, I'd suggest you visit the school. It's dependent on when you're taking the SATs (3 days isn't a lot of time), and how high your scores are.
I think it's worth it because it gives you motivation to the school you want to go to, and you can decide whether the CAMPUS is worth attending. You have to really "FEEL IT" to decide the environment is good once you get there.
A tour is only worth it if you ask questions, especially good ones (I'd recommend questions about social life (be specific: i.e. what goes on here; where do people study; what is there to do around the university; what sort of clubs is the actual tour guide involved in, friends, etc., how tough are some classes; what makes the "professors" really good as they teach, etc. ) . If you have time after the tour, walk around the campus without the tour guide or ask the tour guide more questions.
