I'm taking a biology class over the summer and not doing too well in it and wanna retake sometime later. Although I'm getting a C, I wanna know if its worth it to retake it? I'm passing and I guess I'm good on that part, but I really think I could do better ... because the summer bio class is way too fast for me ... :X
If I wanna retake it, will it look ok on my transcript???
like say I pass but wanna get a higher grade???

Retaking Classes In College ... does it look ok on your transcript!?

I can only speak to my experience with my university but typically you're given an allotted amount of units you can retake classes with. If you have a D or lower you are allowed to retake the class and that new grade will replace your existing grade for your GPA calculation. If you get anything above a C- you are not allowed to retake the class. You can always retake the class of course but your original grade will still stand and you'd have to get an A the next time around to average your C to a B. What a lot of students end up doing is failing on purpose so that they can retake the class if they know they will end up with a C. If your grades are replaced it won't be reflected in the official transcript. I would talk to your academic adviser for more info.

for my school Both of the grades would show, but the better grade effects your gpa.
So for example if you had an F in Biology and then re took the class and received a B,
both of the grades would show on your transcript but the B would be scaled towards your
gpa instead of the F.

hey, a "c" isnt soooo bad, not good at all tho. but if u do decide to retake it, from what i kno. at my school if u retake a class, it doesnt show up on ur transcript. the only thing is....say u got a C the first round and then a C- the next (hopefully not), they will change ur grade to a C-.

if anyone is actually looking at your transcript, then of course it will make a difference. Even if your school allows you to replace a withdraw/fail with a passing grade, anyone viewing your transcript will still see that initially you took the class and had to drop it or failed it. If there are too many instances of that happening, then it will usually reflect poorly on you unless you have a pimping good k-drama worthy reason. Just try your best not to bite off more than you can chew and the second you see yourself struggling through a class/semester run to your advisor and tutoring department to get help.

I think it depends. Does biology have to do with your major? If so I think it will show that you are willing to do whatever it takes to do better. If it has nothing to do with your major than I don't think it really matters. At my college you can retake classes how ever many times you need.

It depends on the school. For example at my school with foreign language you have to have a C or higher to pass. So something like that you'd have to retake.

Wow, some of you guys get a (relatively) good deal. My school doesn't allow retaking anything you didn't flat-out fail, you can only retake the same course once, and even if you retake it I believe the new grade doesn't count towards your GPA, the F does!
Hey, look! Finally a different signature after all these years!
