After signing Jay Chou for the sequel to "Kung Fu Dunk 2" for 15 million a few days ago, in the last few days they are going make a big move to sign Jerry Yan, yesterday investor boss Wu Dun admitted that he had just about finalised the details with him, as to the outside world's guesses to which one of the two idols will be the main star and which one the supporting actor? Wu Dun said: "The two will both be the first male leads, in the movie they will be partners combining to fight crime."

Jerry Yan once played the male supporting role in "Magic Kitchen" (correction, he's male lead over Andy Lau) but he still shone under the likes of male and female leads Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng, in these 4 years national movies have withered, he's put his strength into TV series, letting Jay Chou come from behind, and film "Initial D", "Secret", "Kung Fu Dunk", etc...Not only did he get the affirmation of winning the "Best Newcomer" from the Golden Horse Awards, these movies grossed over 50 million yuan at the box office in Taiwan, Jay Chou has also taken on the role of movie director, his results have been brilliant. To this Wu Dun yesterday expressed, Jerry Yan knows that not only will there be no pressure working with Jay Chou but he's very much looking forward to the fireworks between them.

Yesterday Wu Dun expressed that after the confirmation of "Kung Fu Dunk", the other collaborating companies from Mainland China and Korea suggested they find another Chinese or Korean actor, he once considered the pairing of Andy Lau and Jay Chou, but at the end he thought why go breaking the bank for a foreign star when you can support Taiwanese artists, and so he looked down, in the Taiwan movie industry Jerry Yan was the most famous, he's still young, he's had box office success abroad.

Jay Chou and Jerry Yan are both idols who love playing basketball, for their first collaboration on the silver screen, not only will they be comparing who is more popular but also basketball skills, the topics of discussion will be beat that of the first one. The sequel to "Kung Fu Dunk" is going to start filming in Shanghai between March and June next year, it will come out at the Spring Festival of 2010, it's got a budget of over TW$200 million.

Not only is Jerry Yan fighting it out with Jay Chou in movies, but the funny thing is his performance agent will be given to Jay Chou's JVR, who will be the main male in JVR in the future, the boss Jay Chou or Jerry Yan? Yesterday JVR general manager Yang Jun Rong, who was busy with Jay Chou's charity concert in Chongqing, said: "We spoke very happily with Jerry Yan before, I'm not ruling out a future collaboration."

Jerry Yan joins Jay Chou, planning to invite Andy Lau to film movie about magic

Jay Chou, who once said he wants to retreat to the background at 35, is only 29 this year, yet he's already started moving one step at a time to background work. According to reports he's planning to film a movie with a budget of over 400 million yuan, it's a movie about magic, he wants to invite Andy Lau who like him also likes magic. JVR which Jay Chou has invested in, yesterday announced that they are taken over Jerry Yan's agency matters, Jerry Yan has become an artist under Jay Chou!

Jay Chou's first directed movie "Secret" received good reviews and had good box office sales but he doesn't plan to film a sequel, instead he wants to film a movie about magic, he's inviting Andy Lau to act in it. Yesterday JVR's PR Zhang Lan Yun responded conservatively: "Jay did say before that he sees Andy as his idol, he hopes to find a chance to work with him, but I haven't heard anything about an actual plan." On Andy Lau's side he didn't respond to this news, he was recording a song "Friend! Forgot about that day you appeared" for the victims at Sichuan along with former lovers Sammi Cheng and Andy Hui in Hong Kong.

updates:

JVR indeed now handles Jerry Yan's management matters, though Jerry still maintains his own company (StarJerry/ Dramadream). An actor (forgot the name) who acted in KFD1 was interviewed and said he'll be filming KFD2 next year w/ Jay & Jerry.

**since both Jay & Jerry has the same agent now, looks lyk this project can and will most probably push through. let's see if Jay writes a song for Jerry too in his upcoming album. there's news before that he will..

the article said that KFD2 will have many stars. that besides Jay Chou & Yan Cheng Xu, is expecting to invite Takeshi Kaneshiro to participate. when Boss Wu was asked abt the news, he just said KFD2 will have many heavyweight actors in it.

the same as Tw Apple newsarticle of 8/18, re KFD2. acdg to Boss Wu, KFD2 will have heavyweight stars, so the movie can only be a success, no such thing as failure .

**Boss Wu sounds a little too overconfident. LOL!

I personally hoped that Jerry Yan wouldnt participate in the sequel. I look forward to the collaboration and chemistry between the 2 Js, but not in this one. >"<

Jerry Yan acted in Hot Shot (currently boardcasting on TV) which has the same basketball theme as Kung Fu Dunk. Acting in the sequel will make people compare his performances in both shows and it is kinda boring to see him repeat another basketball stint within just 1,2 years?

I watched Kung Fu Dunk over the Lunar New Year and though it brought me lots of laughter, I wouldnt want to watch it again. =X The flow of the story is bad, in my opinion, with little linkage between each scene. Maybe thats why I was laughing. If Kung Fu Dunk 2 is going to keep that up, I wouldnt want to watch it no matter how many heavyweight actors there are inside.

I like Jay Chou's Secret, and thought he did a great job considering that it was his first time directing a movie. I would prefer to see Jerry Yand and Jay Chou collaborating in the magic-themed movie (with Andy Lau possibly in it) biggrin.gif

yeah, you have the same opinion as the other Jerry fans.
but from news reports, looks like KFD2 will have a bigger budget than KFD1, and they are also gonna beef up the story, and so it's not all about basketball anymore, Jay and Jerry will be like crime fighters too (eh?).
anyway, it was reported that the director of My Sassy Girl (korean movie) will be the scriptwriter for KFD2, so i am hoping they can provide more when it comes to the storyline.

adding Takeshi Kaneshiro wouldn't be bad, but then again, it's another rumour.

Jerry Yan in Kung Fu Dunk Sequel, Takeshi Kaneshiro joins the cast

translated by: yanaliao

THe A cast for the movie is creating a big storm, with Jay Chou and Jerry Yan, plus a possibility of A-cast heart throb Takeshi Kaneshiro joining the team. The movie is said to target the Japanese Market, that is why the poster is specially designed to have a Manga theme.

Changing the Scriptwriter and Director

Producer Wu Dun divulged yesterday: "There will be another strong cast who will join in." A few days ago, he was said to be with Takeshi Kaneshiro, Wu Dun laughed but didn't disagree. The casting is strong, but the backstage crews are the most important part, Wu Dun expressed: "We have Jay Chou and the rest whom are strong actors, so the script should be a success and not to be ignored." In this case, the movie will not be using Dir. Zhu Yan Ping, Korean scriptwriter Guo Zai Rong's script was also rejected. Guo Zai Rong is the director of the Korean movie "My Sassy Girl", and Tsui Hark's , is considered as a Martial Arts movie, Wu Dun said: "The script is done creatively, but the element should also be considered." To avoid the delay of pre-scheduled start of filming on March, there will be a change in scriptwriter and a possibility of collaboration with Hong Kong Director Andrew Lau (Lau Wai Keung).
