I love the old Corollas! Anyone like old vehicles? I'm looking forward to getting a daily driver vehicle that is old, or by teens these days "ancient." I currently have a Toyota corolla 2000. I'm faithful to Toyota haha. Love 'em cars. But want to get the following mainly the first:

So, you guys love em? I hate I-D so i'm not getting car b/c of that.

Canadians love their old-school Toyotas to death... DoriKaze is Canada's BIGGEST old Toyota community, and go up for sale frequently, I'm even considering getting an AE86 or old Celica Supra when I get my license as a starter car, a friend of mine got an AE86 for 600 bucks, and the car, in its condition was worth at LEAST 2500-3000 (despite having 242,000kms...)

It's either an old-school car, or I import a Skyline or Subaru Legacy from Japan (Canadian import law-15 years= it's good to go)

EDIT: That's an AE82 right? if so that's pretty awesome.

The top one is the zenki black AE86 4age limited edition corolla of 1985 GTS. The bottom one [Levin] is a from 1982/3. I know the owner hehe. I think it has a AE101 engine in it now. I'll get to you back on that one.

Oh and AE86's are not overrated like sex, many people like 'em because of that freakish anime. Initial D. It bores me to watch the toon. I want the AE as a daily driver. Also, drift....everyone thinks the car was made for that and by owning the car you can do it....ahahaha! Try a Supra. lol But in a sense it is overrated.

Facts:
-AE86= 1984-1987 Corolla GTS/SR5 either hatchback or coupe.

-The corolla in Initial D is a 1985 Corolla GTS hatchback aka Trueno

-The SR5 model has a 4ac engine so it's not trully a Ae86. More like a AE85.5/AE85.

-I wan't one for my daily driver hehe

Two words: TOFU TAX. Blame the kids who want to go all DORI DORI, driving up the prices. I can get my hands on an SR5 Corolla for like 400 if I wanted the car...I can also get a similar '82 for 700-1000.And yeah I was right, 1982=AE82 Corolla...

Yeah, damn TAX. Makes a $1k car go up to 15K. They want the dorifto hehe I am currently looking for a good SR5 to add a Turbo, and a GTS. I know AE86 are corolla models that were made between 1984-1987. The engine gave 'em the AE86 nick. Maybe it is a AE82. I know its a Levin.
SR5 is good for a daily driver.

I'm looking for this model but 1985.

i used to have a gts as a daily driver. bought it for 1.5k from a mexican family sold it for double that later to my friend and i bought my miata. the ae86 is very overrated unless its pretty heavily modified

My friend with that corolla just finished undercoating the inside of his car, and hes planning on rustproofing. He's also planning to put in new brakes, suspension, and other safety/footwork related things even before the engine is touched. In the forum I pointed out, theres LOTS of done up old Toyotas, ranging from 1972 models up to the AE86, and most of them have dropped at least twice what they bought it for.

thats not difficult to do seeming how my coilovers alone on my rx7 cost more than my ae86...i've driven 20valve ae86's, 13b-t powered ae86's all with suspension and brake mods, i still say they are overrated. they aren't bad, but not nearly as good as people think they are

Ah yes, that is indeed my Corolla up there ^^
Thanks for using the picture and notarizing the JDM forum and my car in this thread.

I'm actually planning to buy a parts for and then start re-aligning everything to suit my need and then get it ready for a sand-blast and paint job. From there it's more engine work or mods and suspension.

For as long as I could remember, I wanted a Toyota Celica as my first car.

But... my dad said no since they're not made anymore.
So I got an is250. *sigh

I would take a celica over it, lol.

God, I want to dream again. Take me somewhere I've never been. This time I'm not scared. facebook

I bought a SR5 a few days ago....bad engine. Returned.

It's Takumi and his 86 that make people think that.

Don't get me wrong, I like the 86, it has a classy simple design.

The good: It's an older car

The bad: It's an older car

Either way, something is needed to be fixed on these cars, but once some restoration is done, it'll probably be on par with some modern cars in terms of reliability.

I'm sure these cars are super reliable once some minor work is done on them, but as they get older, it's going to be harder to maintain an old car. Rust, and general wear are major factors in owning cars like these, and lots of old Toyotas for sale have new engines put in or have been rebuilt a few thousand kms ago.

Punk kids expect that after just new brakes, they can be Takumi in an instant. It's that mentality that causes those kids to wrap their "Tofu cars" around poles, and creates parts cars for enthusiasts....

I figured by the avatar.

Ah the SR5, well was the chassis in good condition ?
That alone would sell for more then the car itself if it was bought cheap or you can do a swap.

I would really want a blacktop or a high comp redtop.
Right now it's getting some cash flow to dump into the car, cause I hear it's harder to work on the car after high school so might as well start now and finish early before it gets rough and enjoy my ride.

The point is that, it's a fun car. It's not made to perform, it's made for the driver to have fun.
It has little performance but it has what it takes to perform what needs to be performed.

I love the Corolla, I want to share the love.
When I drive a different car it's too different I want to stick with the Corolla it's unique too feel the road beneath you. It truly does train the driver. ( Me copying Tsuchiya not Bunta, LOL!)

That kind of mileage is actually pretty decent.

So, how'd you find me here? Are you Gal, or guy? hehe

I just joined because it seemed an active board and C4AG is loosing its cool. Just taking a break from 'em. Anyway, my SR5 was in descent condition. No cracks, new wheels...etc... just engine needed swap or rebuilt.

I wan't a blacktop too...hmm... I wish 13B and 30B engines were fully legal in CA. I'd go over 250HP with those babies.I only want 200hp though. Just good acceleration and picking up speed from nothing quickly....I'm gonna change thread name hehe....too much AE86

I'm both, by two people speaking on one account.

13 and 30 B's would be awesome but I love the 4AG family, I'm not a fan of horsepower cause eventually you lust for more and it doesn't get fun. It gets all serious and that's no fun for me. I rather have just enough horsepower to have fun and improve it abit to have more fun cause the 4AG has a limit that can be hit easily.
