Did you have your optometrist teach you?
Or did you opt out of it cause of the charge... ?

Either way, it's going to be REALLY hard because your eyes won't be used to it so you'll blink a lot = can't get it in.
I had the hardest time...

One tip though, lift your eyelashes (top and botm) up with your fingers and stick the contacts in.

take the contact lense out of the container (case or original container) with your index finger.
center the contact lense of your index finger &look at the contact lense carefully.
if the contact lense looks shaped out and sharp at the edges its INSIDE OUT.
if the contact lense has smooth edges &looks like a round bowl shape it is RIGHT SIDE UP.

now, take your other index finger and push your eye lid UP.
take your middle finger on the same hand where your contact lense is and push the bottom lid DOWN.
sticc your middle finger with the contact lense on your pupil the contact should sticc.
close your eye for a bit and rub it downward just to make sure its in your eye.
open your eye &BOOM, you should have it in.

oh yeah, the easiest way to sticc it in the first time is to make sure the whole rim of the lense is on the pupil. it'll automatically push onto your pupil.

sorry i dont have pics to show. but once you get it, you'll have it.

It's normal to take ages to put in ONE contact when you're new at it. It's a natural reaction to blink when something is poking or touching at your eye, so don't get discoraged too easily!

Try touching the white part of your eye with your finger and you'll see that it doesn't hurt at all. That's what I did to practice in the beginning. But make sure you wash your hands each and every single time you touch your eye and if you wipe them, make sure it's not a dirty towel/hand cloth.

It'll also help if you cut your nails short the first couple of times. This is because obviously, you don't want to scratch your eye by accident, and second, if you pinch the contact lens too hard without knowing, it won't tear or rip.

Another tip is that it's a lot easier to put them in if the contact lens is moist. I remember when I first tried to put it in, it took forever and by the time I finally had the guts to stick it in my eye, it was so dry that it either fell back out or it was very uncomfortable. So keep the soloution close by and if it dries up, drip a drop onto it and try again. When you think or feel that the contact is in, don't remove your finger right away, press down and hold it on your eyeball for one second so it sticks on your eye.

I'm also thinking of getting contacts/going into a contacts fitting. I'd like to know disadvantages/advantages to it. Also, I'm planning on getting daily disposables (colored) with prescription. Is it easy to take out? What if on some days I have big headaches, does it affect? Etc. etc.

Thank You So Much. This really helped me.

Also is it possible that the contact goes behind the eye? I don't know where but I think i heard about this somewhere. That would be scary.

rofl yes uh oh. SLEEPING IN YOUR CONTACTS IS BAD. DO NOT DO IT.

easiest way to insert a contact is to use ur middle fingers to hold your lids apart, and place ur contact on your index finger to put into your eye...i tend to look to the side, place the contact onto my eye then look back towards the contact..

remember to rub and rinse your lenses before putting them in and after taking them out - this will aid comfort a lot, and reduce the amount of dirt and pathogens that can sit on the surface of your lenses=]

Yes, it's actually possible for the contacts to go behind your eyes. A friend of mine slept with her contact once and I guess because our eyes move while we sleep, the contact somehow moved too. But don't worry, it came back out naturally after 2 weeks I think. Lucky her!

What happened to me was I forgot that I had contacts on so I was rubbing my eyes until I realized one eye became blurry. My lense was missing and I only saw a bit of it at the very edge of my eye. Thank god I stopped rubbing or else I wouldn't be able to find it at all. It took me awhile to get it back to the centre and out again.

Yea, my cousin slept with her contacts on and it went behind her eye. But luckily it came out.

what. contacts can actually go behind your eye?! O_O
that's really scary..i'm going to be careful not to rub my eyes from now on

anyway, just some things about contacts for you.

- this may seem obvious, but you should clean your contacts after you wear them EVERY time before you put them back to soak in the solution
- avoid tightlining because the eyeliner can get into your eyes and onto your contacts
- don't rub your contacts in a circular motion when cleaning them, this can rip the lens

hobobear: it shouldn't matter which side to wear your contacts on unless they're different power. I think your contact lens case will have the sides labelled right and left anyway.

if you go get contacts for the first time they usually show you how to do it on the spot and make sure before you leave u can put on and take off the contact. The first time I got contacts it took me like 30 minutes to put em on. Damn those small asian eyes. Now its so easy I can toss it up like a coin and catch it with my eye.

Baaad. Don't sleep in your contacts.

I once had my contact go way up into my eye and I couldn't get it back down for a while.

^ the contact lense probably was stuck under her eyelids. my optometrist told me that it was impossible.

to reiterate, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR CONTACT LENSES TO PASS BEHIND YOUR EYES. your eyeball is attached to your eyelids by a continuous membrane, which forms a pouch [conjunctival fornix] at the posterior aspect of the upper and lower eyelids. hence nothing can pass behind. if u lost your contact, chances it it slipped under one of your eyelids or something.
