Didn't want to hawk off the one in the current news section so i thought i'd create one here.

Personally i've never done any gymnastics unless you include compulsory exercise classes in school xD
But whenever there are competitions going on either World or currently Olympics i ALWAYS LOVE watching the gymnastics. I'm always amazed to see how people can jump at a height and do so much twists and somersaults in the air before landing on their feet (not all the time =p)

So to start things off, current news.........since i dunuo what to say abot gymnastics i've never participated nor trained as one ^^"


Nastia is AWESOME, seriously even for 18 and with all the apparently body changes through puberty she's naturally slender and so graceful in all apparatus, she really does deserve the world title. Shawn Johnson, i guess i good thing is she surprised me? not being prejudice or mean but imo i've always encountered slender graceful "looking" gymnasts Johnson looks pretty.......solid? ._. or to be blunt "chunky" FOR A GYMNAST. *avoids knives..* i'm not saying she should be anorexic or anything i'm just surprised someone of that stature being able to do very well in gymnastics which is kind of like saying i didn't expect bulls in a ballet. If i were to use a 'modest' metaphor it's like Johnson is so packed full of muscle she kinda reminds me of those built up pitbulls? ._. u know how some are kinda short and when too packed full of solid muscle they kinda walk funny.....yeh when i saw Johnson walking to and from apparatus during the all round final...not exactly smooth? *avoids table and chairs* BUT the good thing is she surprised me by being good (sorry), she is powerful (not taking the p*** here now) and solid with her moves not the same grace as Nastia so i guess it'll be interesting it's like getting two people to read the same script you'll get a different feeling. But yeh i really can't see moves looking as gracefull, though she executes them well and accuracy.

There is a Beijing Olympics sub forum...... Anyways, the scoring is a little flawed when it is a tie breaker. The one who's execution score is higher wins yet they got the same overall score.

Yes sorry i know there's an Olympics sub forum but since i can't think of a random comment about gymnastics i'm just picking up stuff from current gymnastics - Olympics ^^

Plus although yes a large post of mine was about judging and marking i also commented about my opinion of a gymnastic competitor (i the form of the Olympic competitors) =p ok i guess i'm treading a thin line........ ._.


What's your favourite piece of apparatus in gymnastics?
I love the uneven bars and the beam, the beam because again it's amazing how someone can do all that with the span of 4 inches. Uneven bars because it just looks really nice when they somersault in the air and switch between the bars.

I like gymnastics. And I really wanna learn and try it. Basic flexibility is there. But in Spore its hard to find someplace to practice.
Anyway, I thought that Nastia Liukin really performed well in this year's Olympics.
She stick to every landing. Shawn Johnson was good too.

i love gymnastics always wanted to do it when i was younger. Nastia and Shawn were good but i was routing on China i feel srry for cheng fei when she fell it must be so hard to perform in front of ur country xpecial when they want you to win. Go CHINA FIGHTING
