are they ne majors dedicated to helping others except things like doctors, nurses, lawyer or some spiritual leader etc..im in my 4th year of college and now i can't believe im considering an actual change

so is there a major like that pays well as im also helping others? the only thing i could think of is like a teacher
bleh i don't have many talent at the moment to help people but if its something i really want or passionate about, i won't stop trying

its not sweet, thats not the point, i feel like helping others which feels good, but then the only thing i can think of is school counselors and everything else seems too stressful, im just lost
how many times must I fall over and over again? and when will i finally succeed at a such a vital point in my life while my time is dwindling away???

Pretty much all jobs help others otherwise the job wouldn't exist

In what way do you want to help others?

What's your current major? Maybe you could find something similar so that it's not too much of a hassle to switch ^^

Aw, I think it's so sweet to consider that =) I mean, in the end, we all want a job that's fulfilling.

Maybe you should consider Human Development, if your college provides it. I'm not too sure about what it is (studying...how humans develop? lol) but I know you can find a job that deals with social work, mentally impaired children, and more.

Join the Peace Corps after college, and do that for a bit. Then go on with your regular life. The time you spent in Peace Corps would help more people than you ever could as a doctor, lawyer, etc.

Social Work?

That's really the only thing I can think of right now that helps people (With the exclusion of all the things you mentioned).

However, social work doesn't have the highest of salaries ...

Maybe you can use your Business Management degree and go into that field. Do management in the Peace Corps or World Vision. Something like that. You get the best of both worlds. xD

I was thinking about doing that right after i got out of high school.

Well, you dont want to get into Medical or become a teacher right? I dont know about high paying jobs, but you can always help people with any major you have. You can imply that major and put into use of helping people. its the thought and your actions that are helping people. it doesnt matter what you major in. sorry i couldnt be much help, but i needed to say that.

what about counciling.

Any jobs could help people if you think about it. If you are a teacher, you're helping the future generation become educated. However, one of the most selfless jobs would probably be someone that helps people that have autism. Those jobs take alot of time and energy and can sometimes be quite personally devastating. I also think its helping, if u do research on how to cure diseases? Social work is helping others. Working in a nursing home is helping [old] others. You could also become a cop or something and protect people. Okie doke, thats all i can think of for now =)

I'd agree with this. biggrin.gif Just finish your first degree in business or take up a double major, don't just change your major cause that'd be a waste of time/money. With a major in business you can always find something to help others -- such as working at Red Cross or at Planned Parenthood.

My major is almost 100% helping others ... it's community health science. We can become family planners, health educators, help with alcohol & drug addiction, etcetera. It's like a step below medical. Actually, I think the overall title for our jobs would be health educators, lol.

Consider working as an activist or for the environment? I'm going into Urban Planning.. hopefully I'll be able to improve cities' layouts for future generations =P.. but honestly anything can help.. if you're looking for directly I guess social work? Anything but business or finance I guess >__>
