I just read the most recent Princess Diaries today. I loved it when I was younger but since it only comes out every few years, I've grown up a lot since the last book. It was totally the stupidest book I've read in the series.
Spoiler alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mia binge eats and gains like 20 pounds or something. She also gets 1 inch taller. No one says anything bad about it, except her psychiatrist. Everyone else is like, You look great! You finally have boobs! She stops being vegetarian because she is sad about her breakup with Michael.
J.P. loves Mia. It was painfully obvious throughout the whole book. It is redeemed slightly at the end when Mia seems to warm up to him.
Mia finds an executive order from a 16 year old princess written 400 years ago during the plague, and she insists that it go into affect. It declared Genovia to be a constitutional monarchy. First her dad tells her that its not legit since it hasn't been brought to parliament. Then she gets mad that her dad only said that because it was written by a 16 year old girl. Since her dad ignores it, she talks about it in a speech in front of an influential women's society. the book ends with her dad and grandmother being very angry.
Well I happen to think constitutional monarchy is the stupidest thing in the world. Did Mia read "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine? She thinks she's doing her best for the people by giving them democracy, but its not a real democracy until everyone is equal, and no one person is born better than another.
Secondly, didn't Mia realize that her dad and grandmere ignored the order because they wanted to keep their power? The fact that she didn't realize that and instead whined about her dad being sexist offended me. No one is that dumb.
