okay so I'm a guy who's starting to get interested in good skincare and I was wondering...since most people steam their faces to get rid of impurities and cleanse your pores... Would it be better to add something good to the hot steamy water so when you steam your face you get added benefits other than cleansing?
For example, using hot steamy water with green tea or even a dash of lemon juice and honey added to it?
My mom and dad usually do weekly facial steaming with organic green tea leaves--they say it deposits nutrients into their skin aside from cleansing. Lots of people say washing your face with green tea iis good for acne because of antioxidants + vitamin e and such so perhaps steaming with it is more effective since your pores are open ^^
What do you think of this?
Anyways I found this quite interesting, just thought I'd share it with you guys ^^~~

green tea makes my face itchy and turns my face all red and blotchy.... D:
i can drink it, but i think for people who has sensitive skin, its a def. no no.
esp. with lemon-double no no for sensitive skin.
soo... if you have skin that can handle it, try if you must.

Lemon is an irritant.
when you mixed the tea in the water and tries to heat it up with a steamer, the actual nutrient is not taken in with the steam.
There's no way steam could carry solids such as magnesium, iron and etc with it. What you will get is only pure hot water gas.
When water evorporate, it leaves the impurities behind...or will would be drinking pee when it rains.
Greentea has caffeine which will open up blood vessel and will provide better blood circulation.

what i do, and i'm not saying i have really good skin but it's fairly okay
but what i usually do is:
first, might sugarless green tea *you can mix honey in it if you want*
when the green tea is done, leave it in the fridge for 1 hour or until chill.
then steam your face for the pores in your skin to open up
after steaming your face for as long as you want,
take the green tea out of the frigde, and wash your face with the cool green tea.
this will cleanse the pores, but at the same time, closing them up, because the tea is cooled.
then pat dry when done.
that's what i do, but i've never like, steamed my face with green tea before.

I have tried it. After steaming I use the tea leaves as a facial scrub.
