Ever thought about this? I have thought about this over time. Thinking about it, things can be more complex than what they appear to be. When I see someone say that hate is a strong word it annoys me sometimes. It's like there is a fear around the word. I don't see how it has to be seen like that. Hate is a feeling about something but it doesn't necceasirly mean you care. When specified then that is what level hate is at will be implied. When I feel like I hate something I'm not afraid to say it.

What do you think? How do you see the meaning of hate?

Hate is a powerful emotion and in my opinion a base and nasty one.
those who embrace hate are merely shells and no longer human in my eyes.
BTW read the article by Geore Orwell about the evolution of government and language intresting POV

BTW hate is a strong word.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of press. It is the Soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer who gives us freedom to demonstrate. It is the Soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and who's coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.
Hooah!

I think hate is a casual word and doesn't really deserve the "hate is a strong word" if you don't know all the circumstances under which the word is being used!

I think it's a strong word if you say something like "I HATE MY MOM."
but if it's something like "I hate candy" then it doesn't have a strong effect or anything.

The word "hate" has two definitions. Some people don't see it that way - to hate only means to detest, to loathe, to despise. The colloquial definition is much softer (where hate is the equivalent to dislike).

I don't think people fear the word. They just only see "hate" as having one (harsh) meaning.

I think people just don't use the word correctly. I like it better when people have larger vocabularies to accurately articulate what they're feeling.

Plus, I feel like people who "hate" so easily are just too unreliable and fickle. They need to get in control of their emotions if they can hate at the drop of a hat. Otherwise they'll grow up to be stupid, immature people who can't deal with their problems in a healthy way.

I think "hate" is used so much and so casually that it's lost its real meaning.
the word's not as powerful as it was a couple of decades ago.
does that make sense?

I don't want to say that there's a fear of the word. There's different ways that people can look at it. If it's said in a way that can be offensive to some people and not to some others, it's not a good thing to say. For example, if someone is playing around and says, "I hate her!", other people might not take it in a joking matter. If it's said where everyone can only see it in a joking way, it's okay. Like what omfhae. said: "I hate that tree" - It isn't that bad.

It might not be much of a strong word to use for you, but that's your opinion.

When someone says "I hate ____" seriously, I don't tell them that its a strong word because I fear it, I tell them that because they're not using the right word, or they don't mean it.

I do that too. I say "don't like" instead of hate.

I agree. This topic also seems similar to why people don't think it's a big deal when people say "That's Gay" "That's retarded". I think a lot of the younger generation are using these terms more loosely and don't really understand how some of these words are used incorrectly.

Not to mention, topics like people talking smack about others behind their backs and yet people are making excuses like "Oh that's normal, everyone does that" really shows how they do not understand.

Have you ever seen normal Taiwanese or Korean people walking around on streets? Most of them have huge noses, small chinky eyes and flat noses and look nothing like those celebrities you see in dramas. And sorry, but most Korean celebrities you see on TV underwent a lot of plastic surgeries in order to look like what you see on TV. I think this should be well-known by all K-Pop-fans.

I guess the effect of hate only applies to human beings because they know how to feel and react? I'm not sure. Thinking about the word hate gives me a headache. Lmao.

Hate is a strong word, but I really really really don't like you.

I use the word hate all the time. I don't think i've ever actually meant it though.
honestly... you're not half as special as you think you are.
